Brad Treliving (* 18th August 1969 in Penticton , British Columbia ) is a retired Canadian ice hockey player and current - functionary , who since April 2014 General Manager of the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League operates. As an active player, he played exclusively in minor leagues , mainly in the ECHL .

Career

As a player

Brad Treliving was born in Penticton and played there in his youth for the Penticton Knights in the British Columbia Junior Hockey League (BCJHL). In the higher-class Western Hockey League , the defender was unable to establish himself and was only sporadically active between 1987 and 1989 for the Portland Winter Hawks , Brandon Wheat Kings , Spokane Chiefs and Regina Pats . After he had spent the 1989/90 season with the Ladner Penguins and thus also in the BCJHL, Treviling switched to the ECHL and thus to the professional field, where he ran for the Winston-Salem Thunderbirds and the Greensboro Monarchs . From 1991 to 1994, the defender was occasionally used in higher-class leagues, namely in the International Hockey League with the Indianapolis Ice and in the American Hockey League (AHL) with the New Haven Senators and the Prince Edward Island Senators , but without a foot to understand. After the 1994/95 season, which he again spent exclusively in the ECHL, Treliving ended his active career after five years as a professional.

As a functionary

After a brief hiatus, Treliving was one of the co-founders of the Western Professional Hockey League (WPHL) in 1996 and from then on acted as its vice-president. In this role he was subsequently instrumental in the merger of the WPHL with the Central Hockey League (CHL) in 2001, where he took over the position of league president of the CHL. At the same time, he was introduced as the new General Manager of the San Antonio Rampage from the AHL for the 2002/03 season and in 2007 rose within the organization from its NHL cooperation partner, the Phoenix Coyotes , to the position of assistant to the new General Manager Don Maloney . Treviling worked in this role for the Coyotes for seven years, during which he continued to function as general manager of their farm team (from 2011 Portland Pirates ).

In April 2014, the Canadian was introduced as the new General Manager of the Calgary Flames . In addition, he acted together with George McPhee as General Manager of the Canadian national team at the 2016 World Cup , which won the gold medal at the tournament.
