Johan Larsson (born July 25, 1992 in Lau ) is a Swedish ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Buffalo Sabers in the National Hockey League since April 2013 . With the Swedish national team , he won the gold medal at the 2018 World Cup .
Career
Johan Larsson began his career as a hockey player in the youth division of Brynäs IF , for whose professional team he made his debut in the Elitserien , the top Swedish division, in the 2010/11 season . In the following season the center won the Swedish championship with his team . He himself scored 45 scorer points in a total of 65 games, including 14 goals, and was voted Elitserien Rookie of the Year .
For the 2012/13 season Larsson moved to North America and acted first as a regular player in the AHL - farm team of the Minnesota Wild before it to be available during the same season NHL gave debut. At the trade deadline on April 3, 2013, he was transferred to the Buffalo Sabers .
There he switched frequently between the NHL and AHL squads until 2015, and since 2015 he has only been used in the NHL.
International
For Sweden , Larsson took part in the junior division of the 2010 U18 World Cup and the 2011 and 2012 U20 World Cup . At the U18 World Cup 2010 he and his team won the silver medal, and at the U20 World Cup 2012 the gold medal. At the U18 World Cup in 2010, he was also elected to the All-Star Team.
In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad for the first time at the 2012 World Cup . After six years, he was reassigned to the Swedish squad for the 2018 World Cup and won the gold medal with the team.
