Sven Linus Ullmark (* 31 July 1993 in Lugnvik ) is a Swedish professional ice hockey goaltender who since May 2014 with the Buffalo Sabers in the National Hockey League is under contract and in parallel for their farm team, the Rochester Americans in the American Hockey League for use comes.

Career

Linus Ullmark (2013)

In his youth, Linus Ullmark played in the youth department of Kramfors-Alliansen in Kramfors , not far from his hometown Lugnvik. During the 2009/10 season he moved to MODO Hockey and went through its junior teams, where he was regularly used in the J20 SuperElit , the highest junior division in the country, from the 2012/13 season . At the same time he made his debut in three games for the professional team of MODO in the Elitserien , the highest ranking league in Sweden. Then chose him Buffalo Sabers in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft at the 163rd position. The following year 2012/13 the goalkeeper also spent mainly in the SuperElit and also played on loan for the Mora IK in the second-class Allsvenskan . At the beginning of the 2013/14 season he established himself in the men's team of MODO and in his first full professional season in 35 games had a catch rate of 93.1%, with which he led the entire league and was therefore awarded the Honkens trofé as the best goalkeeper has been.

As a result, Ullmark signed an entry contract with the Buffalo Sabers in May 2014 , but he was loaned back to his Swedish parent club MODO for the following season. After he was considered in the KHL Junior Draft 2015 in 99th position by HK Awangard Omsk , the Swede switched permanently to the organization of the Sabers at the beginning of the 2015/16 season. Since then, they have primarily used him with their farm team , the Rochester Americans , in the American Hockey League (AHL), while in his rookie season he also played 20 games for the Sabers in the National Hockey League (NHL). However, he was unable to build on these operating times in the following years, so he recorded one NHL game in 2016/17 and five in 2017/18. For the 2018/19 season, however, he established himself as a backup for Carter Hutton in the Sabers' NHL squad.

International

Ullmark came sporadically in the Swedish youth national teams, but without taking part in a larger tournament. During the 2013/14 season he made his debut for the senior national team in his home country as part of the Euro Hockey Tour . In addition, a little later he was part of the Tre Kronor squad at the 2014 World Cup and won the bronze medal there with the team, although he was the third goalkeeper behind Anders Nilsson and Joacim Eriksson .
