Casey Mittelstadt (born November 22, 1998 in Edina , Minnesota ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Buffalo Sabers in the National Hockey League since March 2018 and at the same time for their farm team, the Rochester Americans , in American Hockey League is used.

Career

Casey Mittelstadt spent almost his entire junior career at Eden Prairie High , a high school in his hometown. For their ice hockey team he ran with small interruptions from 2014 to 2017 and achieved a point average of over 2.0 scorer points per game. Additionally, the center-forward was named Minnesota Mr. Hockey in 2017 , which is awarded to the best high school players in the state. At the same time, during the 2015/16 season, he was briefly a member of the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (NTDP), the central talent factory of the USA Hockey Association . The following year he played almost 25 games for the Green Bay Gamblers in the United States Hockey League (USHL), the country's highest junior league.

Eventually, Mittelstadt was selected in eighth position by the Buffalo Sabers in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft , before enrolling at the University of Minnesota and starting the 2017/18 season for their Golden Gophers in the Big Ten Conference , a college league in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) gaming operations . As a freshman , he scored 30 points in 34 games, so that the attacker was selected for the Big Ten Conference All-Rookie Team . After the end of the college season, the American signed an entry-level contract with the Buffalo Sabers in March 2018 and made his debut in the National Hockey League (NHL) a few days later .

In the 2018/19 season he recorded 25 points in 77 games for the Sabers as a rookie , before losing his regular place in the NHL squad in the middle of the 2019/20 season and was given up to Buffalo's farm team , the Rochester Americans from the American, in December 2019 Hockey League (AHL).

International

At the international level, Mittelstadt made his debut at the Ivan Hlinka Memorial Tournament 2015 , which he led in scorer points together with Kailer Yamamoto , but only finished fifth with the team. He then took part in the U18 World Cup in 2016 with the U18 team and won the bronze medal there. With the U20 national team followed in the U20 World Cup in 2018 , another bronze medal, but the center-forward collected the most points among all players of the tournament and therefore the MVP award and was elected to the All-Star team.
