Colin Miller (born October 29, 1992 in Sault Ste. Marie , Ontario ) is a Canadian ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Buffalo Sabers of the National Hockey League since June 2019 and plays for them in the position of defender .
Career
Miller spent his junior years with Sault Ste. Between 2010 and 2013 . Marie Greyhounds in the Ontario Hockey League . During this time, the defender in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft was selected in the fifth round in 151st position by the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League . In his last junior year, when he finished as a defender with 55 scorer points in 54 games and was team captain , he was elected to the league's Third All-Star Team and was also awarded the Mickey Renaud Captain's Trophy .
In July 2013, Miller was signed by the Kings and initially sent to the Manchester Monarchs farm team in the American Hockey League , where he spent the following two playing years. At the end of the 2014/15 season he won the prestigious Calder Cup with the Monarchs . However, the Canadian did not make his NHL debut with Los Angeles, as he was given to the Boston Bruins at the end of June 2015 together with the first round suffrage of the Kings in the NHL Entry Draft 2015 and goalkeeper Martin Jones . In return, the Californians received Milan Lucic . In the Bruins franchise Miller managed to jump into the NHL, although he continued to spend parts of the season in the AHL with the Providence Bruins . For the 2016/17 season he finally managed to establish himself in Boston's squad.
In June 2017, Miller was selected by the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2017 NHL Expansion Draft . With the team he surprisingly reached the final of the Stanley Cup in the 2018 playoffs , but lost to the Washington Capitals there . In addition, in the debut season he was one of the many Golden Knights players who were able to significantly increase their personal statistics, so he recorded 41 scorer points and thus became the team's best defender. After another year in Nevada, he was handed over to the Buffalo Sabers in June 2019 , which in return sent a second-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2021 and a five-round vote for the NHL Entry Draft 2022 to Las Vegas.
