Career
Wayne Simmonds began his career as a hockey player with the Toronto Junior Canadiens , for which he went on the ice in the 2004/05 season in the Greater Toronto Hockey League. He then completed a season with the Brockville Braves in the Canadian Junior Hockey League, before Simmonds was active from the 2006/07 season for the Owen Sound Attack in the Ontario Hockey League . During this time he was selected in the second round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft as the 61st player of the Los Angeles Kings . First, however, he started the 2007/08 season again in Owen Sound, before joining their league rivals Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds . Then Simmonds was added to the Kings squad, for which he was in his rookie year in the 2008/09 season in all 82 games of the regular season on the ice. The Canadian scored a total of 23 points, including nine goals. On June 23, 2011, Simmonds was transferred to the Philadelphia Flyers along with Brayden Schenn and a second-round vote in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft , the Los Angeles Kings received Mike Richards in return .
In his first year in Philadelphia, the attacker set a new personal record with 49 points . Due to the lockout in the NHL , he completed the beginning of the 2012/13 game year between September and December 2012 for the ice pirates Crimmitschau in the 2nd ice hockey Bundesliga . In the meantime, he played from October 22, some games in the Czech Extra League for the Bílí Tygři Liberec . Finally, after the resumption of play in the NHL, he returned to North America and developed into a high performer and a figure of identification in the following seasons. The Canadian had his best playing time in the 2015/16 season for Philadelphia, when he scored 60 times. The following year, Simmonds received his first invitation to the NHL All-Star Game , which he completed with the award for most valuable player . In February 2019, his time with the Flyers came to an end after nearly eight years when he was transferred to the Nashville Predators . In exchange, his ex-team received Ryan Hartman and a conditional four-round suffrage in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft , which will be upgraded to a third-round suffrage if the Predators survive the first round of the 2019 Stanley Cup playoffs .
In recognition of his leadership skills, Simmonds received the Mark Messier Leadership Award after the 2018/19 season . In early July 2019, he signed a one-year contract with the New Jersey Devils as a free agent . At the trade deadline in February 2020, however, he was transferred to the Buffalo Sabers in exchange for a conditional five-round voting right in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft , which is to become one for the fourth round if Buffalo reaches the playoffs and Simmonds at least ten games denies. In addition, the Devils continue to take half of Simmonds' salary.
