Jean-Baptiste "Jack" Laviolette (born July 27, 1879 in Belleville , Ontario ; † January 10, 1960 in Montréal , Québec ) was a professional Canadian ice hockey player who, during his active time from 1902 to 1918, for the Montréal Canadiens in played the National Hockey League .

Career

Jack Laviolette began his career as a hockey player with the amateur teams Montreal Bell Telephone, Montreal Nationals, Michigan Soo Indians and Montreal Shamrocks before being signed by the newly formed Montréal Canadiens in 1909 , for which he made his debut in the 1909-10 season professional ice hockey league National Hockey Association existed. With the Canadiens, the defender won the prestigious Stanley Cup in the 1915/16 season for the first and only time in his career . For Montréal he ran in the 1917/18 season, in the first season of the National Hockey League , in a total of 20 games, in which he scored three points, including two goals. Because of his accomplishments, Laviolette was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame in 1960 and the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1962.
