Layla El (born June 25, 1977 in London ) is a British model , dancer and wrestler of Moroccan origin. She was under contract with the WWE until July 29, 2015 , where she appeared regularly in their wrestling shows under her first name Layla .

Wrestling career

World Wrestling Entertainment (2006-2015)

El came to wrestling by participating in the 250,000 US dollars doped WWE Diva Search Competition was allowed to participate in the year of 2006. She was then allowed to contest the Diva Search Talent Show on August 16, 2006 on SmackDown! win against JT Tinney and Jen England in the final.

El first appeared in a backstage recording with several other divas at SummerSlam 2006 . Your first appearance on SmackDown! she had in an interview with The Miz . She got into the ring for the first time at the Diva Trick or Treat Battle Royal Match on October 24, 2006, where she lost to The Miz according to the storyline .

On January 23, 2007, El was transferred to the ECW brand, where she teamed up with Brooke and Kelly Kelly to form the trio Extreme Exposé , with whom she also prepared weekly dance interludes on the show. Extreme Exposé later broke up when Adams left.

Layla was transferred to the RAW brand in 2008 , making her the first WWE Diva with membership in all three brands. On July 7, 2008, El lost her debut in a tag team match with Jillian Hall against Mickie James and Kelly Kelly. Afterwards she was mainly seen at the side of William Regal .

On April 15, 2009, El moved to SmackDown . From November 2009 she formed a tag team named Lay-Cool with Michelle McCool and feuded against Mickie James and, after her release, against Beth Phoenix . On May 14, 2010, Lay-Cool Beth Phoenix faced a 2-on-1 handicap match for the WWE Women's Championship , in which El Beth was able to pin and thus win her first title in the WWE. At Night of Champions , McCool's title was merged with the Divas Championship and deactivated. After Lay-Cool ended in April 2011, El had been inactive since May 2011 due to a knee injury.

On April 29, 2012, El returned to Extreme Rules , defeating Nikki Bella and winning the WWE Divas Championship . She lost the title at Night of Champions on September 16, 2012 to Eve . Until 2014 El was on a tag team with Summer Rae, the two called each other "SLayers". From November 2014 to April 2015, El took a break for private reasons. On July 29, 2015, Layla announced her retirement from WWE .

Outside of wrestling

Before joining WWE in 2006, El was a dancer for Carnival Cruise Lines , the Miami Heat franchise of the NBA and also danced for Kanye West at the 2006 MTV Video Music Awards . As a dancer, she appeared in the short film Misfit ( 1996) seen with Kylie Minogue .

El has been photographed for several magazines, including King Magazine , Smooth Magazine, and the cover of the first issue of Liquid magazine . She also posed for FHM with the other members of the Extreme Exposé . El appeared in the February 2009 issue of Flex magazine with Beth Phoenix and Candice Michelle .

In April 2007 El was seen in the music video for the single Throw It on Me by Timbaland featuring The Hives, along with her colleagues Ashley Massaro , Brooke Adams , Kelly Kelly , Torrie Wilson and Maryse Ouellet .

From November 5-9, 2007, El starred in 5 episodes of Family Feud with fellow WWE members. She also appeared as a trainer on April 13, 2008 in an episode of Celebrity Fit Club Boot Camp .

El also acted as a presenter for the US television series Artifax (1992) and in the short film Early Bird (1983).
