Maryse Ouellet Mizanin (born January 21, 1983 in Montreal ), better known by her current ring name Maryse , is a Canadian wrestler and model . She is currently under contract with WWE and can be seen regularly as the valet and manager of her husband The Miz on their weekly show RAW .
She was already under contract with WWE from 2006 to 2011 and was able to win the Divas Championship twice during this time .
Private
Ouellet is a French Canadian and grew up in New Brunswick . In addition to her native French , she also speaks English . Ouellet holds a Bachelor of Business Administration and a black belt in martial arts .
On February 22, 2013, she announced her engagement to Mike Mizanin, and the wedding took place exactly one year later.
Career
Model
Ouellet initially took part in various beauty competitions, including being named Miss Hawaiian Tropic Canada in 2003 and second place in the international final of the Miss Hawaiian Tropic 2004. She then appeared in numerous Canadian magazines and television programs. In 2006, Ouellet was the cover girl for a special issue of Playboy . She was also on the cover of the Playboy Calendar Girls of Canada in 2007 .
Wrestling
In 2006, Ouellet took part in the casting show WWE Diva Search . Although she was eliminated, she was signed by the WWE and ordered to train in the WWE-Aufbauliga Ohio Valley Wrestling in Louisville . It celebrated its premiere in December 2006; from mid-2007 she was also in the role of Sylvain Grenier's valet . In the summer of 2007, Ouellet was transferred to Florida Championship Wrestling , another WWE expansion league. There she made her debut on September 25, 2007 as the valet of Ryan O'Reilly together with Lacey Von Erich . She was then allowed to take part in solo and tag team matches before becoming Ted DiBiase, Jr.'s ring companion in December 2007 .
In March 2008, Ouellet made her debut under the name Maryse on the WWE television show SmackDown , where she took part in a swimwear competition. On May 16, she had her first individual fight, which she lost to Cherry.
In the course of a storyline with Michelle McCool , Ouellet received the WWE Divas Championship on December 26th in a SmackDown episode recorded in Toronto by defeating McCool , which she was allowed to hold for seven months. On April 13, 2009, she was transferred to the RAW fire as part of the WWE Draft .
Ouellet made her RAW debut on April 27, 2009 alongside Beth Phoenix , Rosa Mendes and Jillian Hall in a match against Mickie James , Santino Marella , Brie Bella and Kelly Kelly . At the pay-per-view show Night of Champions on July 26, 2009, she had to give up the Divas Championship title to Mickie James. Ouellet was subsequently sidelined with a knee injury before returning to the ring in late November 2009.
In the February 22, 2010 edition of RAW , Ouellet defeated Gail Kim in the final of a tournament in a match for the vacant Divas Championship. This makes her the first diva to win this title twice. On April 12, 2010, she lost the title in a match to Eve Torres . Ouellet co-hosted WWE NXT on Season 5 . After she was not seen on TV for two months due to an injury, Ouellet was fired from the WWE on October 28, 2011 for no reason.
On April 4, 2016, she returned to Monday Night RAW and helped her husband The Miz win the Intercontinental Championship by intervening in his match against Zack Ryder and distracting him. Ryder had surprisingly won the title at WrestleMania 32 the night before . Since then, she has been seen regularly at The Miz's side in the shows.

In April 2007, Ouellet met with their fellow WWE Ashley Massaro , Brooke Adams , Kelly Kelly , Torrie Wilson and Layla El in the music video to Throw It on Me by Timbaland on. In January 2009 she continued to appear in Muscle & Fitness magazine with Eve Torres and Michelle McCool . She was also seen with Candice Michelle , Mickie James, and Eve Torres in an episode of the US television series Redemption Song . In 2017 she starred in The Marine 5: Battleground .
