Gail Kim (born February 20, 1976 in Toronto , Ontario ) is a Canadian wrestler , valet, model and actress of Korean origin. She currently appears under her real name in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling .

She began her wrestling career as La Felina in Canadian independent leagues. She first appeared for WWE in 2002 and won the Women's Championship in her debut match . In 2007 she was the first to win the TNA Knockouts Championship , which made her the first female wrestler to hold both the WWE Women's Championship and the TNA Women's Championship.

Private life

Kim attended the York Memorial Collegiate Institute in Toronto and took a variety of sports classes including basketball , volleyball , soccer , baseball, and badminton . After graduating from school, she initially studied movement science at York University but later moved to Ryerson University , where she switched to nutrition .

Kim underwent breast augmentation before joining WWE, which was followed by an augmentation of her implants .

In December 2005, Kim played an assassin in an independent film, which was initially called Princess and was later renamed Royal Kill . The film was shown in select US cinemas on April 10, 2009.

Wrestling career

Beginnings

After receiving her degree , Kim decided to become a wrestler and entered Ron Hutchison's Pro Wrestling Gym, old Sully's Gym in Toronto. She received additional training sessions from Rob Etchevarria in the "Squared Circle Pro Wrestling Gym". She made her debut as a wrestler in December 2000 as "The Queen of the Cats" La Felina in the Southern Ontario-based Apocalypse Wrestling Federation . She initially wore a mask, but was unmasked by Tracy Brooks after she lost a Mask versus Hair match against her. Kim performed in Canadian independent leagues such as Border City Wrestling for two years.

World Wrestling Entertainment (2002-2004)

Gail Kim met World Wrestling Entertainment employee Nora Greenwald (ring name: Molly Holly ) in 2001 thanks to Jason Sensation . Greenwald encouraged Kim to send her videos to the WWE, which eventually led to her getting a contract. In October 2002 she was hired by the WWE. She trained for eight months at Ohio Valley Wrestling and stepped in house shows and dark matches on before they debuted on Raw on June 30 of 2003.

Her first televised WWE match was a 7 Diva Battle Royal, a title match for the vacant Women's Championship . Kim won the match and the title by finally lifting Victoria over the top ring rope. Kim held the title for four weeks before handing it over to Molly Holly on July 28th at RAW.

Kim broke his collarbone in a match against Stratus on November 10, 2003 and was sidelined. She returned in April 2004 and teamed up with Molly Holly again.

Kim's last WWE match was a "school girl" Battle Royal on October 19 at the major Taboo Tuesday event in which Stratus was able to defend her title. On November 3, 2004, Kim was officially released from her WWE contract. After the 90-day threshold, Kim appeared again for independent leagues such as Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and All World Wrestling League, and made appearances in Japan , South Korea and Mexico .

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2005-2008)

In September 2005 Kim signed a contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). Kim made her debut for TNA on the October 8th issue of Impact and immediately allied with Jeff Jarrett and America's Most Wanted (AMW; Chris Harris and James Storm ). Shortly thereafter, she helped AMW regain the NWA World Tag Team Championship from the Naturals (Andy Douglas and Chase Stevens).

At Impact on December 14, 2006, AMW lost a title match, causing the tag team to disband. Kim then feuded with Petey Williams against Storm and his new manager Jacqueline.

At Bound for Glory on October 14, 2007, Gail Kim was crowned the first TNA Knockouts Champion after winning a 10 Knockout Gauntlet match and defeating Roxxi Laveaux in the end. After 85 days of reign, however, Kim had to surrender the title to Awesome Kong , which she was able to pin in the main event of the Impact issue on January 10, 2008.

At Sacrifice on May 11, 2008, Gail Kim won the first women's ladder match in TNA history to become the number one challenger to the Women's Knockout Championship.

She left TNA on August 21, 2008.

On the Impact Wrestling Recordings on October 18, 2011, Kim returned to TNA and attacked Velvet Sky . At the tapings for Impact Wrestling on November 3, 2011, she and Madison Rayne won the TNA Knockout Tag Team Championship from Brooke Tessmacher and Tara . The team held this title until February 28, 2012. At the tapings to Impact Wrestling, they lost the title to Eric Young and ODB .

On November 13, 2011, Kim won the TNA Knockouts Championship from Velvet Sky at Turning Point . She lost the title at Slammiversary X on June 10, 2012 to Brooke Tessmacher . At Bound for Glory on October 20, 2013, she won the title for the third time. Kim held the title until January 16, 2014, when she lost it to Madison Rayne in Impact Wrestling: Genesis .

Return to WWE (2009-2011)

After her contract with TNA expired, Gail Kim signed another contract with World Wrestling Entertainment . Kim returned as Face on the March 27, 2009 issue of SmackDown, intervening during a WWE Divas Championship title match between Michelle McCool and Maryse .

On June 29, 2009, Kim switched to RAW again. After sporadic missions, Kim announced on August 5, 2011 that she would be leaving the WWE. Her last match was a Battle Royal on August 1, 2011, in which she eliminated herself due to dissatisfaction. On September 30, 2011, her profile was removed from the WWE home page.

Return to TNA Wrestling (2011-2017)

On the Impact Wrestling Recordings on October 18, 2011, Kim returned to TNA and attacked Velvet Sky . At the tapings for Impact Wrestling on November 3, 2011, she and Madison Rayne won the TNA Knockout Tag Team Championship from Brooke Tessmacher and Tara .
