"Cowboy" James Storm (born June 1, 1977 as James Allan Cox in Franklin , Tennessee ) is an American wrestler . He is currently active in Impact Wrestling.

Sporty background

During his high school years, Cox was a talented basketball player in addition to being an amateur wrestler . He has to forego a scholarship due to an injury.

Wrestling career

Beginnings

In 1995, Cox began training for a professional wrestling career. In 1997 he made his debut and was active in the next period for independent leagues in the southeastern United States. In 2000 he signed a contract with World Championship Wrestling and worked there under the name James Storm until the World Wrestling Federation took over WCW in March 2001 .

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (since 2002)

In 2004 he started working for Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNAW for short). They gave Cox a cowboy gimmick and put him on a tag team with Chris Harris , who was henceforth known as America's Most Wanted . The team was to become one of the most successful in TNA history with six wins at the NWA World Tag Team Championships . In addition, Cox won the Tag Team Championship one more time with Christopher Daniels and twice the unofficial TNA Drinking Championship . Since June 12, 2008 he formed the Tag Team Beer Money, Inc. with Robert Roode . On August 10, 2008, Cox won the TNA World Tag Team Championship from LAX , consisting of Hernandez and Homicide, together with Roode . They lost the title on December 16 of the same year to Jay Lethal and Consequences Creed, but won them back on January 11, 2009 from the same at Genesis . On April 19, 2009 at Lockdown , Cox lost the title to Team 3D , but won it back with Roode on June 21 at Slammiversary . The renewed loss took place on July 19, 2009 to Booker T and Scott Steiner . On January 9, 2011, Cox and his partner at Genesis defeated the Motor City Machine Guns ( Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin ). In the TV tapings for Impact Wrestling on August 9, 2011, Cox and Roode lost the title to Mexican America (Anarquia & Hernandez). This was the longest TNA Tag Team title reign. He was also a member of the Fortune group since June 17, 2010 .

On October 18, 2011, he won the TNA World Heavyweight Championship from Kurt Angle on Impact Wrestling Records , but lost it a week later to his tag team partner Bobby Roode, which spelled the end of Beer Money . At Slammiversary XI , Cox and Gunner won the TNA World Tag Championship for the fifth time . They gave the title to The BroMans (Jessie Godderz & Robbie E ) on Bound for Glory on October 20, 2013 .

In January 2016, Cox switched back to TNA. Since then he has appeared again with Bobby Roode as Tag Team Beer Money Inc.

On October 22, 2015, Cox made his WWE NXT debut, winning his first NXT match against Danny Burch.
