Franklin is a city and the seat of the county seat of Williamson County in the US state of Tennessee .
The city is a suburb of Nashville and is bordered by Interstate 65 to the east and primarily agricultural land to the south, west, and north.
history
Franklin was founded on October 26, 1799 and named after Benjamin Franklin . Before the American Civil War , Franklin was the center of the plantation economy in Tennessee.
On November 30, 1864, the Battle of Franklin took place in the American Civil War , with more than 8,000 casualties.
Today Franklin is one of the wealthiest cities in Tennessee.
