NFL

Beathard was selected 104th overall in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers , where he signed a four-year contract.

Beathard made his NFL debut on October 15, 2017 against the Washington Redskins , replacing Brian Hoyer in the second quarter . After the game, Beathard was named as the new starting quarterback. After injuring himself in a home game against the Seattle Seahawks in the 11th week of the season , he was replaced by Jimmy Garoppolo , who had come to the 49ers as a replacement for Hoyer. After that, Beathard was no longer used in the 2017 season.

As in 2017, Beathard started the 2018 season as a backup quarterback, this time behind Jimmy Garoppolo. This pulled however in the third game of the season with the Kansas City Chiefs to a cruciate ligament , so that Beathard replaced him as starting quarterback. After Beathard injured his wrist, he was replaced by Nick Mullens at week 9 .
