Scott Carl Rechsteiner (born July 29, 1962 in Bay City , Michigan , USA ), better known by his ring name Scott Steiner , is an American wrestler . Steiner gained great fame through his appearances in World Championship Wrestling with his older brother Rick as Steiner Brothers and as a member of the New World Order .

Steiner is currently under contract with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling . He is also known for his appearances at the Jim Crockett Promotions , World Wrestling All-Stars and World Wrestling Entertainment .

Wrestling career

Beginnings

Scott Rechsteiner, the younger brother of Robert Rechsteiner , began his wrestling career under his real name in the World Wrestling Association (WWA), which was based in Indianapolis. In August 1986 he was allowed to secure the WWA Heavyweight Championship from Greg Wojokowski. In 1988 he was allowed to win the AWA Renegade Rampage tournament.

Then he entered the CWA, where he was able to win the tag team title twice. He eventually joined forces with his brother to form the Steiner Brothers tag team and was able to work with them for World Championship Wrestling .

World Championship Wrestling (1989-1992)

The Steiner Brothers made their debut against Team Mike Rotundo and Kevin Sullivan at the Clash of the Champions VII event . On November 1, 1989, they were able to defeat the Fabulous Freebirds and thus hold the WCW Tag Team title for the first time. Until 1992 the Steiner Brothers held the WCW Tag Team title one more time, until Scott's brother Rick Steiner left the WCW. Since Scott Steiner was not very successful as a single wrestler, he also left the WCW that same year.

World Wrestling Federation (1992-1994)

At the end of 1992, he and his brother signed a contract with the competition association, the World Wrestling Federation . The tag team was reunited and from 1993 they were allowed to wage a long feud with Tag Team Money Inc. , consisting of wrestlers Ted "Million Dollar Man" DiBiase and Irwin R.Schyster (IRS) . In the course of this feud, the Steiner Brothers won the World Tag Team title twice . The Steiner Brothers last lost this title to the Quebecers in September 1993. Both brothers left their doctorate in mid-1994.

Extreme Championship Wrestling (1995)

Together with his brother Rick, Scott Steiner made his debut in Extreme Championship Wrestling on July 28, 1995 . After moderate success, the brothers left the ECW in October 1995.

Return to the WCW (1996-2001)

After the brother team returned to the WCW, success soon set in. The Steiners were able to secure the WCW World Tag Team Championship title against the reigning champions Harlem Heat , but the Harlem Heat won back after two days. Thereupon the Steiner Brothers succeeded in taking revenge against the Quebecers, who were meanwhile under contract with the WCW under the name French Canadiens. Afterwards, the Steiners feuded against the Outsiders, consisting of Scott Hall and Kevin Nash , for the World Tag Team Championship title, which changed hands several times in the course of the conflict. Up until 1998, the Steiner Brothers received the WCW Tag Team title a total of six times, until Scott was surprisingly disbanded by a mock attack against his brother to join the then group nWo ( New World Order ).

His brother, who, according to the storyline, refused to join the group as well, was put into a feud with him . In 2000, Scott Rechsteiner had to take a break for several months due to a serious back injury. He returned in April 2000. From then on he was given a career boost as a single wrestler, which brought him the WCW World title in 2001.

World Wrestling Allstars (2001-2002)

The WCW subsequently went bankrupt and was bought up by the competitor World Wrestling Federation, which Rechsteiner did not take over. He then signed a contract with WWA (World Wrestling All-Stars), which took over numerous former WCW wrestlers.

Return to WWE (2002-2004)

Rechsteiner returned at the major event Survivor Series in 2002. Although his return to the former WWF got off to a promising start by challenging reigning World Heavyweight Champion Triple H , Rechsteiner quickly slipped into the mid-card. Because of this development, Scott Rechsteiner left the WWE on August 17, 2004.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2006–2012, since 2017)

After that, he appeared temporarily in independent leagues for 2 years. His greatest success was winning the NWA Mid-Atlantic Heavyweight Title, which he received in 2005 and carried until 2006. In March 2006, Rechsteiner made his debut with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA for short), but he had no long-term contractual commitment, but only one setting for several weeks.

In February 2007 he came back to TNA and was allowed to join the Christian's Coalition. As a member of this faction, he feuded against Kurt Angle .

In mid-May 2007, TNA also signed Scott's brother, which enabled the successful Steiner Brothers tag team to perform together again. In June, Scott suffered a life-threatening throat injury during a match in Puerto Rico and had to undergo emergency surgery. It was not operational again until July. In the meantime he was represented by Road Warrior Animal .

In 2008/2009 he formed the stable "The Main Event Mafia" with Kurt Angle , Kevin Nash , Sting and Booker T.

After a one-year break from the end of 2009, Rechsteiner celebrated his return to the TNA program in January 2011 at the age of 48 to take part in a storyline between the groups Immortal and Fortune . After further, small programs, he left TNA in March 2012.

On April 23, 2017, Rechsteiner returned to Impact Wrestling to join Josh Mathews against Joseph Park.

On July 2, 2017, Steiner and his partner Josh Mathews played against Jeremy Borash and Joseph Park in a "No Disqualification" match at Slammiversary. Borash and Park won the match.

After a 6 month hiatus, Steiner came back to impact wrestling.

Outside of wrestling

In 2010 Steiner released the DVD "Freak Show: The Big Poppa Pump Workout", in which he demonstrated his training routine. Steiner plays one of the leading roles in the 2017 Bollywood film "Enredados: La Confusión"
