Jim Crockett Promotions is the name of a former American wrestling promotion that was based in Charlotte , North Carolina . Promoter was Jim Crockett .
history
The history of the promotion began in 1931 when promoter Jim Crockett Sr. held wrestling tournaments under various names.
It was not until the 1950s that the tournaments began to be held under the banner of the Jim Crockett Promotions (JCP), and this later joined the still young National Wrestling Alliance .
In 1973 the promotion was reorganized into Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling and 1983 to the national promotion. At that time, MACW had acquired Georgia Championship Wrestling and from there hosted the national TV format World Championship Wrestling .
From 1984 onwards, Crockett began reorganizing his promotion at the national level by buying up some NWA affiliates . He earned the Championship Wrestling From Georgia (1985), Heart Of America (1986), Championship Wrestling From Florida (1987), St. Louis Wrestling Club (1987) and Universal Wrestling Federation (1987) promotions .
With the sale of the promotion to Ted Turner , Jim Crockett Promotions was dissolved and a new promotion was founded with the Banner World Championship Wrestling .
