Covell is married with two children; a daughter and a son.
Wrestling career
Independent leagues (since 1993)
Christopher Daniels made his debut with Windy City Pro Wrestling (WCPW) , a local Chicago wrestling operator , in 1993 as Titan’s tag team partner in a match against the Manson Brothers. A month later he was able to win his first title, in which he was allowed to defeat Trevor Blanchard for the title of "WCPW Light Heavyweight Champion".
After a while he joined his coach Kevin Quinn as a tag team. In 1995 they were allowed to win the "WCPW Tag Team Title" and a short time later in Puerto Rico also the "WWC World Tag Team Title". In 1997 Daniels went solo again and won the title of "WCPW Middleweight Champion" in the course of Bret Sanders' storyline . Shortly afterwards he won the "World Power Wrestling Heavyweight Title" and the "EWF Heavyweight Title" almost simultaneously.
From 1999 Daniels appeared in Japan as a masked wrestler Curry Man . A little later he won the title of "British Commonwealth Junior Heavyweight Champion".
Back in North America in February 2000 he won the "Super Eight Tournament" of the East Coast Wrestling Association Promotion . After an initial short stay at the major Promotion World Championship Wrestling (WCW), Daniels returned to Windy City Pro Wrestling . In addition, Daniels was allowed to win the title of the Ultimate Pro Wrestling (UPW) promotion and a "King of the Indies" tournament of the best wrestlers from independent leagues, which was organized by the All Pro Wrestling (APW) promotion .
Daniels continued his career with smaller wrestling promotions. In 2001 he and his partner Reign won the tag team title of the Midwest Territories of the National Wrestling Alliance (NWA). As a single wrestler, he was allowed to win the titles of ECWA, UPW and NWA Florida.
In October 2002 Daniels won the "Futaritabi Tag Team League Tournament" in Japan as Curry Man together with Hayashi Rice. In the same month he also performed in England and won the "Heavyweight Championship" of the Promotion Frontier Wrestling Alliance .
World Wrestling Federation (1998-2001)
In 1998 Daniels signed a contract with what was then the World Wrestling Federation . He appeared a couple of times on the show "WWF Shotgun" and formed the Los Conquistadores tag team with Aaron Aguilera . After a few minor feuds and an unsuccessful title match, Daniels left the WWE in 1999 and went back to the independent scene.
World Championship Wrestling (2000-2001)
In January 2001 Daniels played a match against Michael Modest on the WCW show "Nitro". In the course of this match, in which the doctorate wanted to assess both opponents with regard to a longer contract, Daniels failed a springboard moonsault when he missed the ring rope with one foot and hit the back of his head on the ring floor during the subsequent somersault. Despite a neck injury, Daniels was able to finish the match and, like his opponent, was offered a 90-day contract. Until the sale to the WWE, Daniels did not play a single match for the already financially troubled WCW.
Ring of Honor Wrestling (2002-2007)
In January 2002 Daniels was in the first title match of the new Promotion Ring of Honor , for which he appeared frequently until 2004.
Christopher Daniels is known as one of the "founding fathers" of the Ring of Honor (ROH). He competed in the main event of the first show "The Era of Honor Begins" in a triple threat match against Brandon Silvestry and Bryan Danielson . Daniels had to lose the match and so Daniels appeared at ROH as a heel by refusing to adhere to the "code of honor" of the promotion. He said he wanted to destroy Ring of Honor by not following the Code. Daniels became the founder of the table "The Prophecy", in which he combined the heels of the promotion. Daniels appeared in all ROH shows until 2004 and was allowed to win the ROH Tag Team title together with Donovan Morgan .
After a scandal involving the owner of the ROH promotion, TNA banned Daniels from further appearances in 2004. Only after 16 months and a change of ownership of the ROH was Daniels allowed to compete again. Between November 25, 2006 and February 14, 2007, Daniels and Matt Sydal held the ROH Tag Team title for a second time.
Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2002-2010)
Since June 2002 Daniels has also been under contract with the newly founded promotion Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA). Daniels joined TNA shortly after it was founded in 2002. In December 2002 he formed the Stable Triple X together with Low-Ki and Elix Skipper . The stable competed in the Tag Team Division and also won the NWA World Tag Team Championships in the course of the storyline , took turns defending titles and joined Vince Russo's Sports Entertainment Xtreme group . The stable broke up in June 2003 after Low-Ki had mainly competed in Japan and the other two members had lost to the tag team " America's Most Wanted ". From July 2004 Daniels and Skipper competed together again, until they had to part again on December 5, 2004 at the pay-per-view "TNA Turning Point" after another defeat against America's Most Wanted .
In 2005, Daniels led a long feud with AJ Styles for the TNA X-Division Championship belt. He won the title at the pay-per-view "TNA Destination X" 2005. Daniels became the longest reigning X-Division Champion in the history of the TNA and held the title for over 150 days until he won it at the PPV "TNA Unbreakable “ Returned to Styles in a Three Way Dance , in which Samoa Joe also took part.
After various feud programs, Daniels was able to win the X-Division title at "TNA Destination X" from Samoa Joe at short notice , but had to relinquish it again on April 13, 2006.
On December 16, 2006, Daniels won his third TNA X-Division title in a triple threat match against AJ Styles and Chris Sabin , which was shown on the first TNA Impact aired on Spike TV . Daniels held the title until the PPV "Final Resolution" 2006, where he had to lose it to Chris Sabin.
Daniels then took a hiatus from TNA, only to return to the show in March 2007 as Heel , attacking various wrestlers with baseball bats and other items. In December he was fired according to the storyline and shortly thereafter he returned as a masked Curry Man . He performed under this name for a year. The character "Curry Man" was designed more for humor and Shark Boy , a masked wrestler, soon acted as his partner . In December 2008, this character was written from the storyline.
In early 2009, Daniels appeared as a masked wrestler Suicide because Kaz , who had previously appeared as "Suicide", had suffered an injury. On March 15, he won the TNA X Division Championship in the character of Suicide.
In April 2009 Daniels officially returned to TNA as Christopher Daniels . Feud programs against Samoa Joe, AJ Styles and Sean Morley followed before he was released in early 2010.
Return to ROH Wrestling (2010-2011)
At the PPV Big Bang on April 3, 2010, Christopher Daniels surprisingly returned to the Ring of Honor. On December 10, 2010 he was allowed to defeat Eddie Edwards for the ROH Television Title , which he lost to El Generico on June 26, 2011 at iPPV The Best in the World in the Hammerstein Ballroom . This was also his last appearance for ROH.
Return to TNA Wrestling (2011-2014)
His return to TNA came on January 31, 2011, again as Suicide. On March 16, 2011, Daniels also returned as himself. He was a member of the Fortune stable for six months .
At Sacrifice on May 13, 2012, he won the TNA World Tag Team Championship with Kazarian from Magnus and Samoa Joe. On June 10, 2012 at Slammiversary X , they lost the title to AJ Styles and Kurt Angle , but won it back on Impact Wrestling on June 28, 2012. At Bound for Glory on October 14, 2012, they lost the Tag Team titles to Chavo Guerrero and Hernandez .
Second return to ROH Wrestling (since 2014)
On May 17, 2014, Daniels announced at the War of the Worlds event that he would be returning to ROH on June 22 at Best in the World 2014.
