He made his first appearance in the United States in late 2004 . This was followed by engagements at various independent promotions (including Combat Zone Wrestling , Ring of Honor , CHIKARA or Pro Wrestling Guerrilla ). In 2005, Sebei formed the Tag Team Two Skinny Black Guys with Human Tornado . Together they won the PWG Tag Team Championship at Pro Wrestling Guerrilla . They gave the title to Davey Richards and Super Dragon. On December 2, 2006, Sebei won the title again, this time together with Quicksilver (as Team Cape Fear ), and held it until March 10, 2007. On February 24, 2007 Sebei was allowed to win the PWG World Championship of Human Tornado. He lost this to Bryan Danielson on July 29, 2007 .

In 2007 he formed a tag team with Kevin Steen . With this he won the PWG World Tag Team title from Roderick Strong and PAC on July 29, 2007 . In Ring of Honor (ROH short) feuded Sebei with Steen against the Briscoe (Jay Briscoe and Mark Briscoe). In March 2008, Sebei won the PWG World Tag Team Championship for the second time with Steen and for the fourth time overall.

On September 19, 2008 , Sebei won the ROH World Tag Team Championship with Kevin Steen . They gave the title to American Wolves ( Davey Richards and Eddie Edwards ) in April 2009 . In December 2009 the tag team broke up and Sebei feuded with Colt Cabana against Kevin Steen and Steve Corino . The feud ended in one match, at ROH Final Battle 2010 , which Sebei won. In 2010 Sebei and Paul London formed the Peligro Abejas tag team . The two won the PWG World Tag Team Championships from Team The Young Bucks (Matt Jackson and Nick Jackson) on May 9, 2010 , which they held until April 9, 2011. At CHIKARA he won the Rey de Voladores tournament in 2011 .

On June 26, 2011 , Sebei won the ROH World Television Championship from Christopher Daniels . He gave the title to Jay Lethal on August 13, 2011 .

WWE

NXT

In January 2013, Sebei signed a contract with WWE . There he had to take off his typical mask and from now on appears at NXT Wrestling under the name Sami Zayn . On September 8, 2014, Sebei made his main raster debut on RAW while participating in a tag team match to promote the NXT TakeOver: Fatal 4-Way event . However, it stayed with this one-off appearance for the time being. On December 11, 2014, Sebei won the NXT Championship at the NXT Takeover: (R) Evolution in a Title vs. Career match against Adrian Neville . He lost the title on February 11, 2015 in NXT TakeOver IV: Rival to Kevin Owens .

Main grate

On the May 4, 2015 edition of RAW, Sebei made his debut as a single wrestler on the main WWE shows when he unsuccessfully competed against John Cena for the WWE United States Championship in his hometown of Montreal . He suffered a shoulder injury and was out for several months. He made his comeback at an NXT house show at the end of December .

After he had already returned disputed some matches on NXT, returned Sebei at the Royal Rumble in January 2016 and finally back and denied the Royal Rumble Match , where he, among other things eliminated his old rival Kevin Owens, before he himself by Braun Strowman from eliminated the match.

At WrestleMania 32 , Rami Sebei played a 7-man ladder match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship , but could not win the title. Another lengthy feud against Kevin Owens followed. The two contested several individual matches against each other, but also took part in a fatal four-way match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship at Extreme Rules and in the money-in-the-bank ladder match at the major event of the same name, which they each took part in couldn't win. With a victory at Battleground in July 2016, Sebei was able to finally win the feud.

With the WWE Draft on July 19, 2016, Sebei became part of Raw and has been back on SmackDown since April 2017. On November 20, 2016, he played a match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship against The Miz in the Survivor Series . With a win he could have brought the title from SmackDown to Raw , but he couldn't. He then only played singles matches which he won. As part of the Superstar Shake Up 2017, Zayn then switched to SmackDown .

At Hell in a Cell 2017, Owens defeated Shane after Zayn intervened in the match. On the following episode of SmackDown, Zayn called Owens his "brother" after revealing why he was helping Owens instead of allowing Shane to win.

In the March 20, 2018 episode of SmackDown , Owens and Zayn (Kaybabe) were fired by Daniel Bryan as punishment for attacking Shane McMahon the week before. Owens and Zayn attacked Bryan after the announcement. That led to a tag team match at WrestleMania 34. If Owens and Zayn won that match, they would be back under contract with SmackDown . Owens and Zayn lost the match and had to leave SmackDown for good.

Various feuds (2018-2019)

He switched back to RAW at the Superstar Shake-Up in April 2018. And this together with his partner Zayn, both of whom played various tag team matches over time, but were never involved in the title event. On a Raw edition, however, Zayn did gymnastics against Owens by attacking him, a feud between the two ensued, which Owens was the winner. During this time, Zayn injured his shoulder, which is why he had to undergo an operation on the shoulder and was therefore injured.

Return to Raw (2019)

After his injury break, Zayn returned to Raw on April 8, 2019 and accepted a match for the WWE Intercontinental Championship , which he lost. On June 23, 2019, Zayn played a tag team match with Kevin Owens against Big E & Xavier Woods , which they won.

Return to SmackDown (since 2019)

As part of an edition of SmackDown, he came back to SmackDown. Together with Shinsuke Nakamura and Cesaro he founded a group. On March 8, 2020, it won at WWE Elimination Chamber , the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Braun Strowman . The match was a 3 on 1 handicap match , which he played with his group. The title was declared vacant on May 12, 2020 after he no longer wanted to defend it.
