Austin Watson (born September 4, 1986 in Marietta , Georgia ), better known by his ring names Xavier Woods , Consequences Creed and Austin Creed , is an American wrestler currently under contract with the WWE .

His greatest achievements to date include winning the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship twice and winning the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship six times .

Private life

In 2004, Watson graduated from Sprayberry High School in Marietta , Georgia . In the same year he began to study psychology and philosophy at Furman University in ( Greenville , South Carolina ). On May 29, 2008, he graduated from Furman University with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and Philosophy. In 2013 he obtained a master's degree in psychology. He is currently working on completing the Ph.D. to get.

Wrestling career

Independent Leagues (2005-2010)

While attending Furman University , Watson began training as a professional wrestler . In 2005, he began wrestling for Rob Adonis' Ultimate Christian Wrestling Promotion. During the time in the World Wrestling Council -Promotion of Greenville ( South Carolina ) he developed his Austin Creed- gimmick , the character on the Apollo Creed from the film series Rocky is based.

While at NWA Anarchy, Creed was part of a tag team called Awesome Attraction with Hayden Young. The team had one of the longest title reigns in the history of the promotion after Justive Served (Jason Justive and Mike Free) on April 7, 2007 in Cornelia ( Georgia defeated).

On July 12, 2007 Creed defeated Murder-One at Deep South Wrestling , becoming the first DSW Heavyweight Champion after the DSW separated from the WWE . In the DSW he worked with The Assassin, among others.

On July 10th, Creed defeated Brian Milonas, U-Gene and Tommaso Ciampi to win the 2010 Super 8 Tournament of the East Coast Wrestling Association.

Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (2007-2010)

Creed appeared in 2007 at Total Nonstop Action Wrestling - Pay-per-View Bound for Glory, where he teamed up with Ron Killings to replace Adam "Pacman" Jones. He wrestled under the name Rasheed Lucius "Consequences" Creed. His association with Ron Killings was called Truth and Consequences, which was a combination of Killings' nickname "The Truth" and Creed's nickname "Consequenzes".

On October 21, 2007 it was reported that Creed had signed a contract with TNA. Creed later asked TNA to terminate his contract. After he did not appear on TNA TV for months, his request was accepted and he was fired.

On February 10, 2008, Creed wrestled in a dark match against the pay-per-view Against All Odds. Together with Sonjay Dutt he defeated The Rock 'n Rave Infection. At TNA Impact! -Show from March 13th, a promo video for Creed was recorded, which shows him training and announces that he will return to the lockdown pay-per-view on April 13, 2008. The following week, the return date was changed to April 10th. On April 10, 2008, Creed returned to Impact! back and defeated Jimmy Rave, one of the team members of Rave of The Rock 'n Rave Infection, qualifying for the Xscape match at Lockdown. During the match he eliminated Shark Boy, but was later eliminated by Curry Man. At the Sacrifice PPV he competed in a TerrorDome match, which Kaz won.

At the Hard Justice PPV, Creed lost to Petey Williams in an X Division Championship match after Sheik Abdul Bashir intervened in the match. On September 4th, 2008 he won the Impact! a Number one Contenders match against Bashir, which allowed him to compete against Williams for the X Division title at the No Surrender PPV. The match was later converted to a triple threat match after Bashir repeatedly attacked Creed. Ultimately, Bashir won the match and the X Division Championship.

On October 30, 2008, Creed, along with Samoa Joe , AJ Styles , Jay Lethal , Petey Williams, Eric Young , ODB and The Motor City ( Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin ) formed a group of young wrestlers called The Frontline at Impact! to fight The Main Event Mafia.

On January 8, 2009, Creed and Lethal won the TNA World Tag Team Championship in a tag team match against Beer Money, Inc. ( Robert Roode and James Storm ) . From then on they called themselves Lethal Consequences. Beer Money Inc. won the title again in a three-way match just three days later at the Genesis PPV. For the following months, Lethal Consequences and Beer Money, Inc. worked together trying to unmask Suicide. On October 1st, 2009 Lethal Consequences were part of Impact! from a five-man ladder match to get a title shot for the X Division Championship. During the match, Creed vomited during an action. Watson was fired from the TNA on March 29, 2010.

New Japan Pro Wrestling (2010)

On April 4th, New Japan Pro Wrestling announced that Watson, under his ring name Consequences Creed, would take part in the Super J Tag Tournament. On May 8th, he and his partner Kota Ibushi were eliminated in the first round of the competition by Gedo and KUSHIDA. Creed returned to NJPW on June 18, 2010, where he teamed with IWGP Heavyweight Champion Togi Makabe and Tomoaki Honma in the I Sports Crown Openweight 6 Man-Tag Tournament. After beating Tamon Honda, Kentaro Shiga and Makoto Hashi in the first round, they were eliminated in the second round by Shinsuke Nakamura, Masato Tanaka and Tomohiro Hashi.

WWE (since 2010)

Florida Championship Wrestling and NXT (2010-2013)

On July 22, 2010 it was reported that Watson had signed a development contract with the WWE . Watson, using his real name as a ring name, made his debut in Florida Championship Wrestling , the WWE developing league. He and Percy Watson defeated Brodus Clay and Donny Marlow in a tag team match . Later his ring name was changed to Xavier Woods. In October Woods teamed up with Wes Brisco. On October 14th, they took part in a Tag Team Turmoil match, where they defeated three other teams. On November 4, 2010, Woods and Brisco defeated Johnny Curtis and Derrick Bateman, winning the Florida Tag Team Championship . Brodus Clay and Jackson Andrews also took part in the match. On December 1, the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship was declared vacant after Brisco sustained an injury. As a replacement, Woods teamed up with Marcus Owens, where they competed unsuccessfully against Damien Sandow and Titus O'Neill for the vacant Florida Tag Team Championship. In 2011 and 2012 Woods performed alone and without a team partner, but without much success.

Woods made his television debut with the renamed development league WWE NXT on October 31, 2012, where he lost to Leo Kruger. He then won against El Local and Jake Carter.

Main Roster Debut and The New Day (since 2013)

Woods made his main roster debut on WWE Raw on November 18, 2013 . In the team with R-Truth , he defeated 3MB ( Drew McIntyre and Jinder Mahal ). The following week he defeated Heath Slater . On November 29th, Woods started a feud with Brodus Clay on SmackDown after he previously provoked Woods on Raw. He and R-Truth later lost to Tons of Funk (Clay and Tensai ). On December 2nd, Woods and R-Truth defeated Tons of Funk in a rematch on Raw. On January 17, Woods defeated Brodus Clay at WWE Superstars , ending the feud. At the beginning of 2014, Woods and R-Truth only appeared sporadically. A feud with Alexander Rusev followed , which they lost.

Since November 3, 2014 he has been forming the stable The New Day together with Kofi Kingston and Big E. On April 26, 2015 at WWE Extreme Rules , fellow stable members Kofi Kingston and Big E won the WWE Tag Team Championship from Cesaro and Tyson Kidd . The New Day occur under the Freebird Rule , which means that all members of The New Day become WWE Tag Team Champions. At WWE Money In The Bank 2015 , he and Big E lost the titles to the Prime Time Players ( Darren Young and Titus O'Neal ). At Summerslam 2015, his stable colleagues Big E and Kofi Kingston won a fatal four-way tag team match against the Prime Time Players, Los Matadores and Lucha Dragons , thus taking back the WWE Tag Team Championship . Once again, The New Day appear under the freebird rule, so that once again all three members of The New Day are WWE Tag Team Champions. At WWE Night of Champions, The New Day lost to the Dudley Boyz by disqualification when Woods intervened. They didn't lose the title, as the Dudley Boyz won by disqualification. At WWE Hell in a Cell, The New Day successfully defended their title against the Dudley Boyz, and the feud was over. After that they feuded against the Usos. They successfully defended their titles at WWE TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs 2015 against the Lucha Dragons and the Usos. At the Royal Rumble 2016, his stable colleagues successfully defended their titles against the Usos. On July 22, 2016, The New Day broke Paul London and Brian Kendrick's records to become the team with the longest title reign in the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship . The WWE Tag Team Championship was renamed the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship as part of the introduction of the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship while they were still champions . On December 18, 2016, at the PPV Roadblock: End of the Line , they lost their titles to Cesaro and Sheamus after 483 days of title reign .

The April 11, 2017 edition of SmackDown announced the move from The New Day to SmackDown. They've been part of the SmackDown roster ever since. On July 23, 2017 at WWE Battleground , they won the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship from the Usos . By winning the title, they are the first tag team to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship after the Raw Tag Team Championship . At SummerSlam on August 20, 2017, they lost the title again to The Usos . After just 23 days, The New Day were able to win the SmackDown Tag Team Championship back from The Usos. However, this reign lasted only 26 days and finally lost the title again on October 8, 2017 at Hell In A Cell in a Hell In A Cell match back to The Usos. On August 21, 2018, the trio were able to secure the SmackDown Tag Team Championship for the third time , this time from the then titleholders The Bludgeon Brothers Harper and Rowan . The reign then lasted for 56 days and lost the title on October 16, 2018 at SmackDown 1000 to The Bar Cesaro & Sheamus . Since then, the trio has been playing various tag team matches. On July 17, 2019, he and Big E won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship for the fourth time. The reign lasted until September 15, 2019 and then finally lost the title to The Revival Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder.

In October 2019, Woods injured his Achilles tendon and will be out until summer 2020.
