Patrick Martin (born May 23, 1983 in Detroit , Michigan ), better known by his current ring name Alex Shelley , is an American wrestler . He is best known for his appearances at TNA , where he formed the tag team The Motor City Machine Guns alongside Chris Sabin .

Career

Beginnings

Martin began his training with Bobo Brown and Breyer Wellington. He then went to Can-Am Wrestling School , where he was trained by Joe E. Legend and Scott D'Amore. In March 2002 he made his debut at Border City Wrestling as Alex Shelley . This was followed by appearances at some independent promotions (e.g. Independent Wrestling Revolution , New Era Pro Wrestling and IWA Mid-South ).

Independent / TNA

At Xtreme Intense Championship Wrestling , Martin and Jaimy Coxxx formed the tag team The Fun Lovin 'Criminals . With Coxxx , Martin won his first title on April 6, 2003, the XICW Tag Team title. The two were allowed to win this title 3 times in 2003 and 2004. In 2003, Martin made his first appearance on Ring of Honor (ROH for short). From then on he also appeared in larger independent leagues (including Combat Zone Wrestling and ROH). In 2004 he formed the stable Generation Next at Ring of Honor with Austin Aries , Jack Evans and Roderick Strong .

In 2004 he appeared in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA for short).

In 2005, Martin performed several times in Japan at Pro Wrestling ZERO1-MAX . On September 13, 2005 he won the vacant ZERO-ONE United States Heavyweight Championship at Pro Wrestling ZERO1-MAX . In 2005 Martin had some minor engagements with the WWE . In August 2006 Martin appeared again briefly at Pro Wrestling ZERO1 and won the ZERO1-MAX Lightweight Tag Team title with Chris Sabin .

At Pro Wrestling Guerrilla on November 17, 2006 Martin appeared for the first time with Chris Sabin as The Motor City Machine Guns (MCMG for short).

At TNA, they first appeared as Murder City Machine Guns . A little later, however, they appeared as Motor City Machine Guns . Together with Jay Lethal and Sonjay Dutt, Martin and Sabin feuded against Team 3D and Johnny Devine in 2008 . On January 11, 2009, at TNAW Genesis 2009 , Martin won the vacant TNA X Division Championship . He handed the capital over to Suicide in April . In May 2010, Martin and Sabin began a feud against Beer Money Inc. ( James Storm and Robert Roode). In the course of the feud, Martin and Sabin won the TNA World Tag Team Championship from Beer Money Inc. on July 11, 2010 , and they gave the title back to Beer Money Inc. in January 2011. In January 2011, Martin broke at a house show the collarbone and fell for several months. Martin returned on April 20, 2011, and unfortunately his tag team partner Chris Sabin was injured on the same day. From then on he performed irregularly as a single wrestler until March 2012, before returning with Sabin in April 2012. At Lockdown on April 15, 2012, Martin appeared for the last time on TV for TNA, followed by appearances at house shows until May. On May 21, 2012, it was announced that he had not renewed his contract with TNA and was no longer working for the doctorate, which was confirmed a week later by TNA President Dixie Carter.
