Deep South Wrestling , or DSW for short , is the name of an American wrestling promotion based in McDonough , Georgia . The promoter is Jody Hamilton .

history

The promotion was set up in 1986 by Hamilton and Bill Behrens as part of the National Wrestling Alliance and was then as NWA Deep South Wrestling a sub-organization of NWA World Championship Wrestling . DSW became a development territory of the WCW.

In 1988 the doctorate was closed and integrated into the WCW. Hamilton became the head coach of the WCW Power Plant .

On September 1, 2005, the promotion was reactivated and a sub-organization of World Wrestling Entertainment . DSW now formed a development territory of the WWE.

Due to massive differences of opinion between Vince McMahon and Hamilton, the WWE announced on April 18, 2007 that it had separated from DSW with immediate effect and removed it from its website a day later. The reason was that the WWE was not satisfied with the development status of the DSW wrestlers. The league held a few more events under its own banner, but was closed that same year.
