Steven Eugen Corino (born May 29, 1973 in Winnipeg , Manitoba ) is a Canadian wrestler . However, he became known under his ring name Steve Corino and he is currently also playing under the name Mr. Wrestling # 3 .

Steve Corino's sister Cathy Allison is also a successful independent wrestler. She is known as Allison Danger . On March 9, 2013, Corino married his longtime girlfriend.

Career

Beginnings

Corino was born the older brother of wrestler Allison Danger . Before he started wrestling , Corino graduated from Villanova University in "Business Administration" and worked at times as a milkman. Corino made his wrestling debut on April 6, 1995 at the IWA Mid-South . Corino was able to win his first title at PCW on June 1, 1995 and keep it for 3 months to the day.

In 1996 Corino was hired by the WWF at short notice to be beaten up in the role of a “crazy fan” by the wrestler Crush on TV.

Independent / Extreme Championship Wrestling

Corino then appeared in the independent scene when he started in 1997 in promotions such as the WWC . He founded his own promotion with the NWA 2000 as part of the National Wrestling Alliance .

In 1998 he returned to WWF to play a few matches there. At the end of 1998 Corino appeared at the ECW . In January 1999 Corino sold the NWA 2000 and started a feud program with Taz in the ECW .

In the ECW he was an absolute opponent of stimulants, steroids (anabolic steroids) and the hardcore style shown in the ECW . Here Corino described himself for the first time as the "King of Old School" and propagated the traditional wrestling style. But in the following years he developed into one of the most brutally portrayed hardcore wrestlers of the ECW. His ECW matches against Dusty Rhodes and Terry Funk are legendary today . Shortly before the financial end of the ECW, he was allowed to win the ECW World Heavyweight Champion title and hold it until the last ECW event. At ECW Guilty as Charged 2001 Corino had to cede the title to Sandman after 86 days , who in turn had to lose it to Rhino after 8 minutes .

National Wrestling Alliance / Independent

After the ECW was discontinued, Steve Corino came under the wrestling promotion Premier Wrestling Federation and also competed as an active wrestler in the NWA , where he was able to win the NWA World Heavyweight Champion title in May 2001 and hold it until October.

In 2002 Corino tried unsuccessfully to join the WWE as a commentator and was very successful in Japan in the same year . He signed up with ZERO1-MAX and looked after the foreign wrestlers there.

But Corino already appeared negatively in the US press in May 2003 when he was arrested on short notice for forging documents: Corino was accused of forging the signatures on checks of his girlfriend at the time and relieving her account by a few hundred dollars. But in court he was acquitted on all counts.

After his return from Japan Corino returned to the independent scene and the NWA . In 2003 he was signed by both MLW and TNA as well as RoH . In a RoH match, Corino's opponent Homicide hit him hard in the left ear. As a result, Corino is deaf in that ear today.

Corino was in Germany between 2005 and 2006 when he joined GSW . In addition, he also took part in the UXW and AWA doctorate . After losing a lawsuit against the WWE , Corino had to give up his nickname "King of Old-School" because the WWE had secured the naming rights.

In early 2007, Corino announced that he would end his active wrestling career. His farewell tour took him back to Germany, where he won the World Heavyweight title for the second time at GSW. But he also had another appearance at the WWE when he competed in a dark match on the occasion of the 15th anniversary of the WWE show "RAW" in the anniversary show against DH Smith. On December 27, 2007, Corino gave his last official match. From 2008 to 2009 Corino was again committed to the National Wrestling Alliance . During this time he ran the promotion NWA 3000 Fighting Athletes together with Cory Stevens . There he already appeared on January 4, 2008 as a masked “Mr. Wrestling # 3 “ and soon dropped the mask.

Corino is currently competing at WWC , ZERO1 MAX and the NWA. On September 25, 2010, Steve Corino appeared under his real name in Marburg, Hesse. He took part in the reopening of German Stampede Wrestling and was immediately involved in a feud program with Steve Douglas for the GSW World Heavyweight Championship . Corino was able to win this on October 9, 2010 in Berlin , when he was allowed to defeat Douglas for this title. But on October 24, Corino had to cede the title in Erfurt to Emil Sitoci from the Netherlands .
