Brian Adams (born January 31, 1963 in Kona , Hawaii , † August 13, 2007 in Tampa , Florida ) was an American wrestler . He was best known under his ring name Crush . Adams appeared in the wrestling associations World Wrestling Entertainment and World Championship Wrestling .

Career

Adams was trained by Tatsumi Fujinami and Antonio Inoki and began his career in 1986 when he competed in Japan . Soon after, he moved to the "Pacific Northwest Wrestling" (PNW) league in Portland, Oregon . There Adams was part of the tag team The Wrecking Crew , his partner on this team was The Grappler. In December 1989 , they won the NWA Pacific Northwest Tag Team Championship . In early 1990 Adams won the PNW Heavyweight title.

World Wrestling Federation

In 1990 Adams came under the name Crush in what was then the World Wrestling Federation . There he was introduced as the third man in the Tag Team Demolition to gradually replace Ax, who was suffering from health problems . During this time, “Demolition” held the WWF Tag Team title , which they had to hand over to the Hart Foundation at the pay-per-view event SummerSlam in 1990 . Then Adams went back to PNW, where he was again allowed to be Heavyweight and Tag Team Champion. He then switched to All-Asian Wrestling in Singapore .

Adams returned to the WWF in 1992 under the name Crush . His ring outfit became more colorful and he was marketed as Face . Adams returned in late 1993 after an injury break, which he took after a match with yokozuna . In 1995 he was arrested and imprisoned for drug and illegal weapons possession, and was only able to return to the WWF at the end of 1996.

World Championship Wrestling

In 1998 Adams went - like many other WWF wrestlers after the Montreal Screwjob - to the WCW, where he competed under his real name and belonged to one of the most famous stables in wrestling history - the " New World Order ". During this time he also performed in Japan .

Later he formed together with Bryan Clark (who was previously active in the WWF under the name Adam Bomb ) the tag team Kronik , which was allowed to carry the tag team title twice.

In the spring of 2001, Brian Adams had to take a break of several months because of appendicitis . During this time the WCW was bought by the WWF, Adams and his tag team partner Bryan Clark were taken over as tag team by the WWF.

On September 23, 2001, the pay-per-view event "Unforgiven" took place, at which Adams and Clark also appeared. After the event, however, those responsible were of the opinion that the performance of the two had been poor and therefore dismissed them. They turned down an offer from WWF for advanced training in the OVW wrestling league . In the following time, Adams and Clark continued to work as a tag team for the World Wrestling All-Stars league in Australia and Japan.

In 2002, Adams tried unsuccessfully as a boxer . He then returned to smaller leagues as a wrestler. He then withdrew with back and shoulder problems. Most recently Adams lived on his expensive Lloyds insurance and also worked as a bodyguard (including for Randy Savage, who was trying his hand at rap music ).

death

On August 13, 2007, around 11:30 am local time, he was found dead by his wife. According to the woman, Adams was in bed. The cause of death was an overdose of analgesics and anti-depressants .
