German Stampede Wrestling (GSW) is the name of a German wrestling promotion that is based in Marburg . The promoter is Ingo Vollenberg , who ran the league for a long time together with Alexander Erven.
history
GSW was founded in September 2001 by Ingo Vollenberg (and his Vice President Steve the Chief) and formed the real continuation of a fantasy league. After the early years, the German Wrestling Promotion Association acted as the sponsor and the league became known throughout Germany for its strong internet presence. Right from the start there were good contacts with the wXw doctorate . This cooperation ended when the GSW decided in 2004 to concentrate on actual sports entertainment . The wXw, on the other hand, favored traditional pro wrestling .
Until 2005, GSW's sphere of activity was limited to the Sauerland. From 2005 the activity was also extended to the Ruhr area, with the league now deliberately competing with the wXw . Between the two promotions in 2006, a feud program was worked out in which the wrestler Thumbtack Jack competed on the GSW side against his main employer at the time, westside Xtreme wrestling .
On July 7, 2007 Vollenberg left GSW for the time being and the doctorate was continued as a registered association. GSW also worked with international independent leagues such as the IWA Mid-South . Well-known guest wrestlers were Mick Foley , Bret Hart , Steve Corino and Samoa Joe .
After the association was dissolved at the end of 2009, GSW was left without an official management team. Therefore the remaining management of GSW announced that the doctorate would be discontinued on April 12, 2010. The last GSW event accordingly took place on April 10th and 11th, 2010 under the direction of Ingo Vollenberg in Marburg.
On August 7, 2010, Ingo Vollenberg announced on the promotion's homepage that GSW would be reactivated on September 25, 2010 in Marburg with the organization of the COURAGE show and that the promotion would now continue. A little later, Vollenberg announced the collaboration with the Berlin- based Promotion German Wrestling Federation (GWF) , which will now assume the function of a GSW development territory and will be the wrestling school of German Stampede Wrestling. A show in Berlin was announced for October 9, 2010.
After the successful reactivation of the promotion and shows already held in Marburg and Berlin, the old feud program GSW vs. wXw resumed. Vollenberg announced via “Power Wrestling” that GSW would compete on November 20, 2010 in the territory of the wXw, more precisely in Mülheim an der Ruhr . But a little later this idea was abandoned again, as one wanted to prepare for the next event in Erfurt. On November 20, 2010, only the GSW Tag Team Champions competed as part of the “Wrestling Total Fight Night 2010” show, which has now been organized by Wrestling-total.de.
Ingo Vollenberg also took part in the wXw's birthday event at the beginning of December 2010 in Oberhausen as a representative of GSW. On November 5, 2011, the league celebrated its 10th anniversary. Following this event, a change in management was announced: Westside Extreme Wrestling , represented in Marburg by Tassilo Jung and Christian Michael Jakobi , took over the management of the promotion. Both assured that the GSW will remain in Marburg and Ingo Vollenberg will continue to be the creative head of the league.
On December 15, 2012, another GSW event took place in Marburg after the doctorate had paused for 13 months. Since then, several events have been presented in the most sold-out hall.
