Major League Wrestling , or MLW for short , is the name of a former US wrestling doctorate that was based in Orlando , Florida . Court Bauer was the promoter.

history

NWA Major League Wrestling

The history of the promotion began in 1994 when the NWA Major League Wrestling banner was set up as part of the National Wrestling Alliance . At the end of the 1990s, the MLW's wrestling style shifted more and more towards hardcore wrestling . This obvious departure from the traditional "Southern Style" caused a large part of the wrestling squad to turn their backs on the MLW and put up their own event banner called Championship Wrestling From Florida . MLW was discontinued and closed in January.

reactivation

In the summer of 2002, Court Bauer reactivated the MLW to offer fans of the former ECW a new wrestling home. The promotion rose quickly because of its modern-risky "hybrid style" in the reputation of wrestling fans, especially since MLW had some big names from the former ECW, including wrestlers Steve Corino , Sabu and Sandman in the promotion.

The end of MLW

Due to a lack of sponsorship funds, the MLW slowly fell into insolvency. In addition, the promotion with Ring of Honor had grown into a powerful competitor within the independent wrestling scene. Ring of Honor finally replaced MLW as the market leader in the independent scene, and as a result MLW ceased operations in 2004.
