The Wyatt Family
The Wyatt Family ( German Die Familie von Wyatt ) was a wrestling table at the US promotion WWE , which originally consisted of Bray Wyatt , Luke Harper and Erick Rowan .
The stable made its debut in 2012 at NXT , the WWE development league . A few months later, Harper and Rowan won the NXT Tag Team Championship and held it for 49 days. In July 2013, he was promoted to the main grid of the WWE as a heel stable as well as feuds against other wrestlers of the WWE, including Kane , CM Punk , Daniel Bryan , John Cena , Sheamus and individual members of the stable The Shield.
In September 2014, the paths of the original group started the first time to separate . As a result, Rowan performed a so-called face-turn when he supported Team Cena for the Survivor Series , while Harper on the other side joined the Team Authority . After a brief feud between the two, Harper and Rowan reunited in May 2015.
Braun Strowman became a member of the Wyatt Family in September 2015, but separated from the stable again in July 2016 through the WWE Draft . At the end of 2016, Harper and Wyatt won the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship together with Randy Orton , which they held under the so-called Freebird Rule . After the loss of the title, the group began to disintegrate again. During the Royal Rumble match at the event of the same name on January 29, 2017, Harper attacked his now former allies and separated from them. Orton won this match and thus a guarantee of a match for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 33 on April 2, 2017. After Wyatt received this title for the first time on February 12, 2017 at Elimination Chamber , there was a match between Orton and WrestleMania 33 at WrestleMania 33 Wyatt. Rowan and Wyatt maintained their alliance until the Superstar Shake-up on April 10-11, 2017, when Wyatt switched to Raw , while Rowan stayed on SmackDown Live , which marked the end of the Wyatt Family.
history
Beginnings at NXT (2012-2013)
The character of Bray Wyatt , played by the US wrestler Windham Rotunda , made his debut in April 2012 at the then WWE Development League, Florida Championship Wrestling , where he began a brief alliance with Eli Cottonwood. After the WWE had reorganized their youth program and installed a new development league with NXT , he appeared for the first time on July 11, 2012 as part of their eponymous program, where he defeated Aiden English in a singles match . Wyatt was portrayed as the leader of a devil cult who believed himself to be more monster than human. The character showed similarities to Max Cady from the 1991 film Cape Fear .
In the same month Wyatt sustained a real muscle injury and had to take a break in the ring. Still, he appeared during his injury break at NXT and formed a stable called The Wyatt Family , which also included Luke Harper and Erick Rowan , whom he referred to as his "sons". Harper and Rowan took together on a tournament for the newly created NXT Tag Team Championship , where she in the first round, the team of Percy Watson and Yoshi Tatsu , and in the semifinals - - with an engaging Wyatt from outside Bo Dallas and Michael McGillicutty defeated before they had to admit defeat to Adrian Neville and Oliver Gray in the final .
The first match after his injury break Wyatt played on February 21, 2013 at NXT with a win over Yoshi Tatsu. The Wyatt Family later attacked Oliver Gray (who suffered a real-life injury and was written off the shows) while Wyatt Bo prevented Dallas from winning a match that would become the NXT Championship challenger after the latter turned it down had to join the stable. On March 13, 2013 Wyatt had to lose a match for the first time with a loss to Dallas. On May 2, 2013, Wyatt lost a match to Chris Jericho , while Rowan and Harper secured another chance at the NXT Tag Team Championship . They won this on May 2, 2013 from Neville and Dallas, who stood in for the injured Gray.
A feud against Corey Graves and Kassius Ohno ensued . In the NXT edition of May 22, 2013 Wyatt defeated Graves and eliminated both this and Ohno the following week in an 18-man battle royal , the winner of which was to become the new challenger to the NXT Championship and from which he himself later divorced by Adrian Neville. On June 19, 2013, The Wyatt Family was allowed to defeat the team of Neville, Graves and Ohno in a six-man tag team match . In the NXT episode recorded on June 20, 2013 and aired on July 17, 2013 , Rowan and Harper lost the NXT Tag Team Championship to Neville and Graves.
Promotion to the main grid and various feuds (2013-2014)
Since the May 27, 2013 release of Raw , short films heralded the Wyatt Family debut in the WWE main roaster . These short films showed the origin of the Stable " from the forest " and Rowan with a sheep mask. On July 8, 2013 they made their debut with an attack against Kane and attacked in the following weeks, among others, R-Truth , Justin Gabriel and 3MB (consisting of Heath Slater , Jinder Mahal and Drew McIntyre ). Later, Kane challenged Wyatt to a "Ring of Fire" match at SummerSlam on August 18, 2013. Wyatt accepted the challenge and won the match. After another victory Wyatts over Kofi Kingston at Battleground on October 6, 2013, Harper and Rowan lost five days later at SmackDown for the first time a joint tag team match against Cody Rhodes and Goldust .
At the end of October, the next stables feud began after an attack on CM Punk and Daniel Bryan . During the feud, Harper suffered for the first time a defeat in a singles match that he lost to punk. In the Survivor Series on November 24, 2013, Harper and Rowan lost a tag team match against Punk and Bryan. In a 3-on-1 handicap match at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs on December 15, 2013, he won a victory against Bryan, who gave up after further attacks on December 30, 2013 and joined the Wyatt Family. After Bryan's attack on the other members of the Stable, however, this alliance was history again on January 13, 2014, after just two weeks. On January 26, 2014, Wyatt defeated Bryan at the Royal Rumble , ending their feud.

In the Raw edition a day later, the Wyatt Family attacked Bryan, John Cena and Sheamus' team during a qualifying match for the match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Elimination Chamber , resulting in a victory by disqualifying Cena, Bryan and Sheamus as well as a defeat of their opponents The Shield , consisting of Dean Ambrose , Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins . A six-man tag team match was then scheduled between the Wyatt Family on the one hand and The Shield on the other for Elimination Chamber , which the Wyatt Family was allowed to win. She also won the rematch on March 3, 2014, after the frustrated Rollins' abandoned his partners during the match. On April 8, 2014, the feud between the two teams at Main Event ended with the Wyatt Family losing.
After the Stables had several encounters with John Cena in January and February 2014, the Wyatt Family intervened at Elimination Chamber in the match Cenas of the same name, thus ensuring his elimination and thus finally taking up a feud program with Cena. At WrestleMania XXX , Cena Wyatt inflicted the first pinfall defeat since advancing to the main grid. The feud continued even after WrestleMania XXX . On May 4, 2014 Wyatt was allowed to defeat Extreme Rules Cena in a steel cage match , but had to accept the final defeat in the feud against Cena at Payback on June 1, 2014 in a last man standing match .
On Raw the next day, Harper and Rowan won a match against The Usos ( Jey Uso and Jimmy Uso ), at that time title holders of the WWE Tag Team Championship and were therefore declared new challengers to those titles. On June 13, 2014, Wyatt won a match against Dean Ambrose after his former ally and now rival Seth Rollins intervened to the detriment of Ambrose and qualified for a ladder match for the vacant WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Money in the Bank , which however, he was not allowed to win. At the same event, Harper and Rowan lost their title match against The Usos. On June 30, 2014, the stable interrupted and attacked Chris Jericho , who was returning to WWE, on Raw . As a result, there were several matches between Jericho and Wyatt. On July 20, Wyatt lost a match against Jericho at Battleground , but was allowed to defeat him at SummerSlam about a month later. On September 8, 2014, the feud ended with a win Wyatt in a steel cage match on Raw .
Rowan's and Harper's "Release" - Going Their Separate Ways (2014-2015)
On September 29, 2014, a short film was first shown on Raw in which Wyatt announced that Rowan and Harper were "free". In the following weeks, all three members of the Wyatt Family returned to the WWE shows at different times and separately from each other: Wyatt at Hell in a Cell on October 26, 2014 with an attack against Dean Ambrose , Rowan on October 31 at SmackDown and Harper on November 10th on Raw , where he joined The Authority with the authoritarian stable . A week later Rowan supported the opposing team Cena and stood against Harper. In the same edition, Harper had previously received the WWE Intercontinental Championship from Dolph Ziggler , who was also a member of Team Cena .
After Wyatt's attack on Ambrose, the two physically clashed several times. This led to a match between the two at the Survivor Series on November 23, 2014, that Wyatt was allowed to win by disqualification . Also in the Survivor Series , Harper and Team Authority lost to Rowan and Team Cena . For this reason, he had to defend his WWE Intercontinental Championship against Ambrose the following day , which he successfully managed after Wyatt intervened in the match and attacked Ambrose.
In the December 8, 2014 edition of Raw , Rowan and Harper first met in a singles match , which Rowan won by disqualification. On January 5, 2015, Harper defeated Rowan in a rematch by pinfall. On January 22nd, Harper won another match against Rowan and thus qualified for the Royal Rumble Match at the event of the same name . In this there was a confrontation between all three former members of the Wyatt Family.
On May 7, 2015 at SmackDown Rowan came to the ring after Harper's victory over Fandango and attacked the latter. The final reunification of the two took place on May 11, 2015, when Harper Rowan helped defeat Fandango in a match within a little more than 30 seconds and the two continued their attacks against him after the match. On May 18, 2015, Harper and Rowan defeated Fandango and Zack Ryder in a tag team match on Raw , as they did on May 21 on Main Event . On June 4th, the two held a promo on SmackDown announcing they were family. After winning more matches, Rowan suffered an injury in late June that would put him out of action for several months.
Reunification with a new member (2015-2016)

At Battleground on July 19, 2015, Luke Harper intervened in the match Bray Wyatts against Roman Reigns and helped him to win over them. This was followed by a tag team match between Harper and Wyatt and Reigns and Dean Ambrose at SummerSlam on August 23, which ended in defeat for Harper and Wyatt. A day later on Raw there was a rematch between both teams. During this match, the new member of the Wyatt Family Braun Strowman made his debut and helped Harper and Wyatt to attack their opponents beyond the end of the match. This in turn resulted in a six-man tag team match at Night of Champions between the Wyatt Family and Ambrose, Reigns, and a partner of their choice who turned out to be Chris Jericho , who won the Wyatt Family. Rowan also made his comeback on Raw on October 19, 2015 . In that show, the Wyatts defeated former members of The Shield Ambrose, Reigns and Seth Rollins , after the latter left the hall during the match and with it his former partners. Wyatt's feud against Reigns ended at Hell in a Cell on October 25, 2015 with the eponymous match type with a defeat.
That same evening, the family attacked The Undertaker and the next day on Raw his storyline brother Kane , which initiated a feud with the " Brothers of Destruction ". On November 9th, they returned and in turn attacked the members of the Wyatt Family. At the Survivor Series on November 22nd, Harper and Wyatt had to lose a tag team match on the occasion of The Undertaker's 25th ring anniversary against them and Kane. But they were allowed on December 13 at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs the team ECW Originals (consisting of the Dudley Boyz Bubba Ray and D-Von and Tommy Dreamer and Rhyno defeated).
All four members of the table took part in the Royal Rumble on January 24, 2016 in the match of the same name, in which Roman Reigns' WWE World Heavyweight Championship was at stake. There the group eliminated a total of seven of the 30 participants, including Brock Lesnar . As a result, Wyatt was originally supposed to face Lesnar in a singles match at Roadblock on March 12, 2016, but this was converted into a handicap match between Lesnar on the one hand and Wyatt and Harper on the other. Lesnar won. Luke Harper suffered a serious knee injury on Raw on March 21st . The three of them then performed at WrestleMania 32 on April 3, where they confronted Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson , who was then able to defeat Rowan in a match within six seconds.
On April 4, the Wyatts started a brief feud with the League of Nations ( Alberto Del Rio , Rusev and Sheamus ), a week later they rushed to the aid of Roman Reigns, whom they attacked, followed by a tag team match between Reigns and Wyatt and Del Rio and Sheamus was scheduled, which ended victorious for Reigns and Wyatt. Two days later at a house show in Italy suffered Wyatt in a match now against Reigns an injury and was forced to cancel his participation in the rest of the European tour of the WWE. On June 20, 2016, the Wyatts returned on Raw , but without the still injured Luke Harper, and were confronted by The New Day ( Big E , Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods ). This initiated a feud between the two teams that ended in a six-man tag team match at Battleground on July 24, 2016, victorious for the Wyatt Family .
"The New Wyatt Family" (2016-2017)

In the WWE Draft , Wyatt and Rowan were drafted to SmackDown Live , while Strowman was elected by Raw and thus separated from his previous allies. In September and October 2016 , Wyatt feuded Randy Orton . Luke Harper returned to the shows at No Mercy on October 9, 2016, helping Wyatt defeat Orton. At exactly that point, however, Erick Rowan had to undergo an operation, which was to be followed by an injury break of several months.
In the October 25, 2016 issue of SmackDown , Orton attacked Wyatt's match opponent Kane and helped Wyatt win. A week later, Orton faced Kane himself, was now supported by Wyatt and Harper and won, which pushed Orton's heel-turn and his integration into the stable. In the Survivor Series , Wyatt and Orton competed with Team SmackDown Live , which also included Dean Ambrose , AJ Styles and Shane McMahon , in the classic five-on-five Survivor Series tag team match against Team Raw (consisting of from Roman Reigns , Seth Rollins , Braun Strowman , Chris Jericho and Kevin Owens ). Wyatt and Orton were the last remaining in the elimination match, the "Survivors", and thus ensured the victory of Team SmackDown Live . On December 4th, Wyatt and Orton won the WWE SmackDown Tag Team Championship at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs , which marked the Wyatts' first title win in the main roaster. The so-called Freebird Rule also made Harper the title holder. Together, Wyatt, Orton and Harper formed "The New Wyatt Family" ( German The new family of Wyatt ).
On December 27, 2016, the stable lost the title to Team American Alpha ( Chad Gable and Jason Jordan ) after Orton and Harper accidentally collided during the match and Orton was pinned . The group began to disintegrate again. A rematch on January 10, 2017 ended unsuccessfully after another misunderstanding between the two. After the match, Harper attempted a super kick against Orton but accidentally hit Wyatt. A week later, after an unfortunate intervention by Harper, Orton lost an individual match to Dean Ambrose. On January 24, 2017, there was a match between Harper and Orton, which the latter won. Wyatt then attacked Harper with his finishing move Sister Abigail , but the final announcement of Harper's expulsion from the group failed to materialize.
At the Royal Rumble on January 29, 2017, Harper finally turned against Wyatt and Orton during the match of the same name, who would later win and thus get a chance at the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 33 . After Orton defeated Harper in a singles match at Elimination Chamber two weeks later and Wyatt won the WWE Championship in the main event , he defended the title two days later at SmackDown Live in a triple threat match against the two previous titleholders John Cena and AJ Styles. Orton then came to the ring and announced that he would forego the title chance at WrestleMania 33 . On February 28th he did gymnastics against Wyatt and challenged him to a match there. This ended with a victory by Orton and thus the loss of Wyatt's title at WrestleMania 33 .
Another separation (2017)
On April 4, 2017, Erick Rowan returned to the WWE shows after just under eight months on SmackDown Live and lost a tag team match with Wyatt against Orton and Harper. Rowan now wore a new sheep mask in the steampunk style.
At the Superstar Shake-up on April 10-11, 2017, Wyatt switched to Raw , while Rowan stayed on SmackDown Live . On April 30, 2017, the feud between Wyatt and Orton was brought to an end in Payback's premiering House of Horrors match. This match began outside the arena, namely in the "House of Horrors" and was continued there later. Wyatt won after Jinder Mahal , who by then was the next challenger to Orton's WWE Championship , attacked him. Rowan defeated Harper on May 9 in a singles match on SmackDown Live . Both were mentioned by the team of commentators as "former members" of the Wyatt Family, which meant the end of the group again.
