Matthew Rehwoldt (born October 7, 1987 in Chicago , Illinois , USA ), better known by his ring name Aiden English , is an American wrestler . He is under contract with World Wrestling Entertainment and is featured on the television show 205 Live .

His greatest achievement to date was receiving the NXT Tag Team Championship .

Matthew Rehwoldt was born in Chicago on October 7, 1987. He developed an interest in acting at an early age. At the age of 20 he had appeared in over 20 stage productions. After graduating from high school, he studied drama with stage fighting as a focus at Columbia College Chicago with his future WWE colleague Rebecca Quin . He did his bachelor's degree in acting in 2010.

He is in a relationship with the wrestler Shaul Guerrero, daughter of Eddie and Vickie Guerrero . They got engaged in December 2014 and got married on January 3, 2016.

Wrestling career

Rehwoldt played his first wrestling match in 2011. Before moving to World Wrestling Entertainment , he made a name for himself in the independent leagues under the ring name Matt Marquee.

At the beginning of 2012, Rehwoldt signed a contract with the WWE. Initially, he was used in Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW), the WWE's development league at the time. There he got the ring name Aiden English . There he stayed until the dissolution of the FCW.

From 2012 he was used at NXT , the newly founded WWE expansion league. He made his television debut in the WWE at the second NXT edition on June 26, 2012. There he lost in a one-off match against Leo Kruger. On the September 25, 2013 edition of NXT, he sang a parody of the major-general's song "from the musical The Pirates of Penzance . From there he got the gimmick of a singer who sang a song before each of his matches.

In June 2014 he formed the tag team The Vaudevillains with Simon Gotch . On August 22nd, 2015 at NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn they won the NXT Tag Team Championship from Blake and Murphy . After the dissolution of the Vaudevillains, he got his old gimmick as a singer from his time at NXT. In August 2017, he allied himself with Rusev and helped him with his feud against Randy Orton . After the feud, they remained a tag team and with the phrase Rusev Day the team quickly gained popularity and dynamism. But the tag team was also disbanded a short time later within a feud, since then he has been a commentator on the weekly 205 live broadcast.
