William Morrissey (born August 16, 1986 in Queens , New York , USA ) is an American wrestler who is currently performing without a permanent contract. Morrissey had his best known engagement with World Wrestling Entertainment between 2011 and 2018 as Big Cass .

Career

WWE (2011-2018)

Florida Championship Wrestling (2011-2012)

Before Morrissey signed a contract with the WWE, he performed under the ring name Big Bill Young at World of Unpredictable Wrestling (WUW) . In 2011, WUW announced that Morrissey had signed a contract with WWE. He appeared in Florida Championship Wrestling , the WWE's advanced league at the time, under the ring name Colin Cassady . He made his television debut on the FCW edition on September 4, 2011 together with Rodney Thomas in a handicap match against Richie Steamboat, which they lost. In the remainder of 2011 he was employed as a jobber. At the FCW edition of March 11, 2012, he celebrated his first win in the WWE after defeating Kenneth Cameron .

NXT (2012-2016)

After Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW) was discontinued, he made his debut on June 5, 2013 with WWE NXT , the new development league of the WWE. In the June 5, 2013 edition of NXT, he lost to Mason Ryan. He then formed a tag team with Enzo Amore , who had also previously lost to Mason Ryan . Then the two feuded against Mason Ryan, but could not defeat him. After that, he and Enzo Amore feuded against Sylvester Lefort, Alexander Rusev and Scott Dawson. In November 2013, Enzo Amore broke his leg, so Morrissey started a career as a single wrestler. He feuded against Aiden English. On June 26, 2014, Enzo Amore returned and tagged him again. After Enzo Amore's return, the two feuded against Sylvester Lefort and Marcus Louis. The feud culminated when Sylvester Lefort and Marcus Louis shaved off part of Enzo Amore's beard. The feud ended on NXT: TakeOver Fatal 4-Way when Enzo Amore Sylverster Lefort in a Hair vs. Hair Match defeated. Carmella made her NXT debut in March 2015, becoming the valet of Colin Cassady and Enzo Amore. The three began a feud against NXT Tag Team Champions Blake and Murphy and their valet Alexa Bliss for the NXT Tag Team Championship . However, they couldn't win the title. In March 2016 they vied again for the NXT Tag Team Championship against The Revival (Dash Wilder and Scott Dawson). Again they couldn't get the title. He played his last match on NXT with Enzo Amore in the NXT edition on April 2, 2016, when they lost to American Alpha ( Chad Gable and Jason Jordan ).

Main roster (2016-2018)

Big Cass (left) and Enzo Amore (right)

On April 4, 2016, Morrissey and Enzo Amore made his debut on the main roster of the Raw edition after Wrestlemania when they confronted the Dudley Boyz in a promo . He played his first match on the main roster alongside Enzo Amore in the Smackdown edition on April 14, 2016, when they were in the first round of the tournament to determine the new challenger to the WWE Tag Team Championship , The Ascension (Konnor and Viktor). The final of the tournament took place on May 1st, 2016 at WWE Payback . They denied this against the Vaudevillains (Aiden English and Simon Gotch). This encounter ended as a no contest, as the match had to be abandoned after an injury to Enzo Amore. Amore had to pause due to a concussion, so Morrissey had to perform for a month without his partner. In May 2016, Morrissey's ring name was changed from Colin Cassady to Big Cass. On May 23, 2016, his tag team partner Enzo Amore returned. At Money in the Bank, Enzo and Cass took part in a Fatal Four-Way Tag Team Match but couldn't win. In July they were drafted to Raw as part of the new roster split.

On June 19, 2018, it was announced that WWE had ended its partnership with Morrissey.

Independence scene (since 2018)

On August 2, 2018, Big Time Wrestling Wrestling announced that Morrissey would enter the ring for them under the ring name Big Cazz on September 21, 2018. He then appeared under different variations of his name on an independent level, most recently in September 2019 for Northeast Wrestling as CaZXL .

Others

  • He first met his tag team partner Enzo Amore when he was 15 years old and they were playing basketball against each other.
  • Because he was a good basketball player in high school, he got a scholarship from New York University , where he went on to study economics .
