Point Lola (in Argentina Punta Lola ) is a headland on the north coast of Laurie Island in the archipelago of the Southern Orkney Islands . It is on the east side of the entrance to Uruguay Cove .
The name of the headland appears for the first time on an Argentine map from 1930, based on surveys from 1914 by Ignacio Espíndola, captain of the corvette Uruguay from 1914 to 1915, and from 1930 by Ángel Rodríguez, captain of the Primero de Mayo , based. It is named after Maria Dolores "Lola" Bosch, wife of Luciano Honorio Valette (1880–1957), who in 1904 worked as a meteorologist at the Orcadas station . Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations translated this name into English in 1934.
