Vincent J. McMahon

Vincent James McMahon (born July 6, 1914 in Harlem , New York , † May 24, 1984 in North Miami , Florida ) was an American wrestling promoter who, as the founder of Capitol Wrestling, laid the cornerstone of today's market leader WWE . Vincent J. McMahon himself was the son of Roderick James "Jess" McMahon, a successful boxing and concert promoter.

Career

In the 1950s and 1960s , McMahon's Capitol Wrestling Corporation and World Wide Wrestling Federation began to dominate the wrestling scene in the northeastern United States. Between January 1953 and April 1963 he was a member of the Board of Directors of the National Wrestling Alliance .

He had rejoined the NWA from the early to late 1970s and later transferred his company to his son, Vincent Kennedy McMahon . This changed the name to " World Wrestling Federation " later to " World Wrestling Entertainment " and made the league successful nationally and internationally.
