James Dudley (born May 12, 1910 in Baltimore , Maryland , † June 1, 2004 ) was an American wrestling manager who became known through the WWF . Dudley was the first African American to run a major US arena.

Life

Dudley started his career with the McMahon family in the 1950s. He was part of the WWE until his death. Initially, Dudley was Vincent J. McMahon's chauffeur in the 1950s. He became the first black manager to accompany big stars like Bobo Brazil into the ring. He was an employee of the WWF for almost 50 years. In 1994, Dudley was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame . Dudley left 37 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
