The WCW International World Heavyweight Championship was a world heavyweight wrestling title from World Championship Wrestling . Introduced in September 1993 as the successor to the NWA World Heavyweight Championship , the title was only given to male individual wrestlers. On June 23, 1994 he was united with the WCW World Heavyweight Championship .

The WCW International World Heavyweight Championship originates from the NWA World Heavyweight Championship and was the world heavyweight championship of a fictional promotion called WCW International.
In September 1993, World Championship Wrestling and the National Wrestling Alliance split again after other NWA member promotions complained that the NWA World Heavyweight Championship was not available for them. Thereupon the NWA declared the title for vacant and recognized the reigning title holder Ric Flair , the title. Nevertheless, the WCW retained the Big Gold Belt and continued to list Flair as the WCW International World Heavyweight Champion . Only after this championship was discontinued, the NWA crowned a new NWA World Heavyweight Champion . Even so, WCW International World Heavyweight Regencies are not recognized by the NWA and WWE .
At Clash of the Champions XXVII on June 23, 1994, the title was combined and set in a union match between the reigning title holder Sting and the WCW World Heavyweight Champion Ric Flair .
