Jack Lanza (born October 14, 1935 in Laredo ), better known as Blackjack Lanza , is a former wrestler .
Career
AWA
Blackjack Lanza made his ring debut in 1962. In the American Wrestling Association he formed along with Blackjack Mulligan , the tag team The Black Jacks , which by Bobby "The Brain" Heenan managed was. Lanza embodied a gimmick of a western cowboy at the time , which was used very often and successfully for wrestlers at the time. On July 23, 1976, the team won the American Wrestling Association's tag team title.
WWWF
In 1975 the two moved to what was then the World Wide Wrestling Federation , which is now known as WWE. On August 26th, they won the WWWF World Tag Team Championship by defeating Dominic DeNucci and Pat Barrett . In 1983 he ended his active career and then worked as a road agent for WWE .
His nephew is former WWE Champion John Layfield . In 2006 Lanza was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame .
