Dominic DeNucci

Dominic DeNucci (born January 23, 1931 in Venice ) is an Italian-born American wrestler . He is also a wrestling trainer who has trained greats like Mick Foley and Shane Douglas , as well as referee Brian Hildebrand .

Wrestling career

Dominic DeNucci made his wrestling debut in 1958. He first appeared as Masked Marvel , but lost his mask in a match on January 21, 1959.

On June 18, 1971 DeNucci received his first WWWF title , the WWWF International Tag Team Championship along with Bruno Sammartino . Three days later they lost him again to the tag team The Mongols.

On May 13, 1975 DeNucci and defeated Victor Rivera Jimmy and Johnny Valiant and were WWWF World Tag Team Champions . In June Rivera left the WWWF and Pat Barrett became DeNucci's substitute partner. Three months later they gave the title to The Blackjacks .

DeNucci was once again WWWF World Tag Team Champion together with Dino Bravo when they defeated Professor Tanaka and Mr. Fuji in a match on March 14, 1978 . They held the title until June 26, when they passed it on to The Yukon Lumberjacks .

DeNucci wrestled for Big Time Wrestling in Detroit and was very popular in the territories of Michigan and Ohio .

Trainer

After his active wrestling career ended, DeNucci trained Mick Foley, Shane Douglas and Brian Hildebrand, among others. He is also mentioned several times in the autobiography Have a Nice Day: A Tale of Blood and Sweatsocks , especially in the opening chapter. Even after the end of his career, he competed in individual matches.
