The NWA World Six-Man Tag Team Championship was a wrestling title that belonged to the National Wrestling Association (NWA). Over the years it has been fought in several NWA territories . Like all wrestling titles, they are awarded as part of a storyline -
background
From 1954 to 1974 the title traded as the NWA Six-Man Tag Team Championship and was introduced into the Chicago NWA promotion. It was intended for three-person tag teams, which were more common in the 1950s and 1960s. Later they were more of an exception, apart from popular teams like the Fabulous Freebirds and The New Day .
In 1974 the title came to NWA Mid-America and was discontinued in 1981. In 1984 Jim Crockett Promotions brought it back as the NWA World Six-Man Tag Team Championship. In 1989, when JCP closed and became World Championship Wrestling (WCW), the title was discontinued at the same time. WCW itself briefly led the WCW World Six-Man Tag Team Championship , which is sometimes considered a revived version of the title and is therefore also listed here.
In 1998, NWA 2000 tried to revive, but it failed.
