Career

Beginnings / NWA

Koloff began his career in 1984 with the National Wrestling Alliance promotion Mid-Atlantic Championship Wrestling (MACW). From then on he appeared in various associations and leagues such as B. the American Wrestling Association or Continental Wrestling Association .

With Ivan Koloff and Krusher Khruschev he formed the group The Russians . Together with Ivan Koloff, he received the NWA World Tag Team Championship on March 18, 1985 . They gave the title to the tag team The Rock 'n' Roll Express on July 9, but regained the title on October 13, 1985.

Koloff was generally portrayed as a Soviet villain and subsequently booked against the American Magnum TA alias Terry Allen , who was considered a rising star. Since the latter was so badly injured in a car accident that his career ended, Koloff's role was changed to the refined athlete , who from then on feuded with the Four Horsemen group .

In August 1986 Koloff received the NWA United States Heavyweight Championship and a year later the NWA World Television Championship .

World Championship Wrestling

In April 1991 Koloff came to the then promotion NWA World Championship Wrestling (NWA / WCW), which was to be separated from the NWA a good six months later. In what is now WCW , he first worked in a program with opponent Lex Luger , and from June of that year with Sting . In August 1991, Koloff announced that he was taking a break.

In February 1992 Koloff returned to the WCW and joined Sting and his Stable Sting’s Squadron (consisting of Barry Windham , Dustin Rhodes , Ricky Steamboat and Sting). Together they feuded against The Dangerous Alliance (consisting of Paul E. Dangerously , Rick Rude , Steve Austin , Arn Anderson , Larry Zbyszko , Beautiful Bobby and Madusa ). Due to a neck injury, which he had suffered on October 25, 1992 in a match against Big Van Vader , he announced his career end shortly thereafter.

NWA Total Nonstop Action

In 2003 Koloff was briefly seen on NWA Total Nonstop Action Wrestling . However, his engagement included only a few appearances as masked Mr. Wrestling IV without him actively playing a match.
