Career

Sporty background

Allen was a member of the Collegiate's wrestling team and was able to win the championship in the class up to 76 kg.

Beginnings

Allen began professional wrestling in 1977 when he was running for the Championship Wrestling from Florida and Pacific Northwest promotions .

A little later he switched to Mid-South Wrestling and was built there in 1983 under the name Magnum TA to the top star of the promotion. He got the name from André the Giant . His gimmick was based closely on actor Tom Selleck and his series role Magnum, PI, as Allen looked very similar to Selleck.

After building Allen to the top star of the promotion, he was also allowed to win the Mid-South North American Heavyweight Championship title when he was allowed to defeat Mr. Wrestling II.

Jim Crockett Promotions

In 1984 he was signed by Jim Crockett Promotions . It was merged with Dusty Rhodes to form a tag team called America's Team . This tag team was never allowed to win a title in the promotion, but was one of the teams that drew the most viewers.

As a single wrestler, Allen was able to win the United States Champion title from Wahoo McDaniel when he was allowed to defeat him in the storyline . However, he had to give this title back to Tully Blanchard relatively quickly . On November 28, 1985, Allen was allowed to play again against Blanchard at "NWA Starrcade" and defeat him. This was the second time he was promoted to the United States.

In April 1986, Ivan Koloff began to advertise his nephew Nikita as the true US champion . This began a long-term feud between the Koloffs and Allen. Ultimately, Allen had to cede the US title to Krusher Khruschev .

Allen had to end his active wrestling career after a car accident.

National Wrestling Alliance

After playing, Allen worked as a commentator for the National Wrestling Alliance and World Championship Wrestling . After various feud programs, Allen withdrew from wrestling, but returned to WCW in 1993 for a few appearances .
