Michael Thomas Byrne (born May 14, 1985 in Ashton-under-Lyne ) is a Welsh - English football player on the position of midfielder . He plays for FC Bangkok Glass in the Thai Premier League .

Career

Byrne began his career at the Bolton Wanderers' youth academy . 2003 was released from the academy. Leigh RMI was already interested in signing him, but he signed a contract with Stockport County . But it was hardly used there. His only game for Stockport he made on February 21, 2004 against Notts County . In September 2004 he was loaned to Leigh RMI for a month. He completed seven games for the club in a short time and scored three goals. Upon his return, he stayed with Stockport until February 2005 before moving to Northwich Victoria . He stayed for three years and played a total of 81 games. In October 2008, his contract was terminated because the club was in financial difficulties.

He came to Thailand via the stations Forest Green Rovers and Stalybridge Celtic . In 2009 he took part in a trial training session at the Thai club FC Nakhon Pathom and received a contract. He played his first game on March 8, 2009. After 15 games for Nakhon Pathom, he moved to Chonburi FC in June 2009 . During the game between Chonburi FC and Nakhon Pathom, Byrne was noticed by Chonburi coach Kiatisak Senamuang . On the penultimate match day of the first half of the season, Byrne received a call from Kiatisak. In the course of the conversation, the coach Chonburis managed to convince Byrne of a change.

In 2002 he was called up for Gareth Williams , who was injured, in the squad of the Wales U-21s . In the game against the Finnish U-21 selection, however, he was not used. Previously, he had already played for the U-17 and U-19 of Wales, in the following years he was also counted several times in the squad of the Welsh amateur team. Byrne would have been eligible to play for the English selection as well, but opted for the Wales selection.
