Aaron Rodriguez Arrelano (born July 15, 1942 in San Luis Potosí , Mexico ) known as Mil Máscaras is a retired wrestler and actor.

Career

Rodriguez's career began in Guadalajara in April 1965 . His trademark became his many masks, which earned him the nickname The Man of the Thousand Masks . His first title win was the Mexican National Light Heavyweight Title in 1967 , which he lost again a few months later, but regained it in 1968. Rodriguez was also able to hold the NWA American title four times between 1968 and 1971 , and the NWA American Tag Team title three times . Finally, in 1976, he won the ALL World Heavyweight Title and the IWA World Heavyweight Title .

His title wins, as well as his skills in the ring, helped him to establish himself as an international superstar of wrestling and to act as a source of inspiration for many later high flyers .

He feuded with the best wrestlers of the day, including superstar Billy Graham , Harley Race , Ivan Koloff , Dory Funk Jr. and "The Destroyer" Dick Beyer. He won his last title in 1991, became WWA World Heavyweight Champion and held that title until 1994.

After his career, Rodriguez became a member of the Southern California Pro-Wrestling Hall of Fame in 2001 . Also in the World Wrestling Federation , he was in the Royal Rumble to see 1997 again.

In the SmackDown record on October 16, 2011, he was announced as the first WWE Hall of Fame member for 2012 and inducted on March 31, 2012.

  • In addition to his wrestling career, Rodriguez also worked as an actor and shot more than 30 Lucha films in Mexico (e.g. Los campeones justicieros ) from 1968 , in which he always wore his masks.
