The first seconds of the competition

Bull riding is a sporting competition as part of a rodeo . It is considered the most spectacular and dangerous part of such an event. The ride on a mechanical bull is also called bull riding.

rodeo

The rider of the bull at a rodeo has the task of standing on the animal's back for at least 8 seconds before it is thrown off. At the beginning, the bull rider climbs onto the fence, sits down on the trapped bull and grabs a flat rope that is tied around the animal's body. The bull also wears a belt around his flank. When the rider calls out that he is ready, the gate is opened and the bull storms into the arena . Now the rider tries to hold his position for at least eight seconds, having to put a hand in the air.

The bull stands up, bucks, kicks, turns and rolls his back in an effort to throw off the rider. A loud buzzing sound announces the completion and termination of the competition. Then the rider jumps off. An evaluation is carried out with a score of 0 to 100 points by usually two judges who assess both the aggressiveness and agility of the bull, as well as the posture and control of the test person over the bull.

Mechanical bull

When riding a bull on a mechanical artificial bull, the drive module of which is equipped with two motors, the time that the rider spends on the animal's back is measured. This type of leisure time has existed since the early 1980s. The speed and degree of difficulty (rotation and impact speed) of the machine can be set on a display on the connected control panel. The surrounding area of the stylized bull usually measures over 5 × 5 m, is round, octagonal or hexagonal, depending on the design, and is protected by a soft sub-floor to prevent injuries. This type of bull riding is a popular attraction at fairs and festivals as well as in western bars .

In addition to a stylized bull, other attachments are also available for the device, such as duck, bottle, bed, camel or special items aimed at adults. If the tab falls off the device, it is stopped either automatically or immediately by the operator.
