Career in wrestling
Beginnings (2003-2005)
Tom Budgen played his first wrestling matches in 2003.
In the first years of his career he performed under the ring name Tommy The End , especially in Freestyle Championship Wrestling .
Westside Xtreme Wrestling and Others (2005-2016)
From 2005 onwards, Budgen got into the ring primarily at Westside Xtreme Wrestling . There he received his first wrestling title on September 16, 2006 with the wXw World Lightweight Championship , after defeating the previous title holder Emil Sitoci and Mike Quackenbush , Pac and Ricky Marvin in a fatal five-way elimination match . He held the title for a little less than three months before handing it over to Pac on December 9, 2006 at the wXw World Lightweight Tournament .
From 2010 he formed the tag team The Sumerian Death Squad with Anthony Zeus, who from 2011 carried the new ring name Michael Dante . Between 2011 and 2016, the team received tag team titles in six different promotions , including twice the wXw World Tag Team Championship at Westside Xtreme Wrestling and the Progress Tag Team Championship at Progress Wrestling .
Budgen was also very successful as a singles wrestler . He won the 16 Carat Gold Tournament twice and the wXw Unified World Wrestling Championship once with a win over Axel Tischer on June 1, 2013 at Dead End XIII .
On May 25, 2014 Budgen achieved his greatest success at the International Catch Wrestling Alliance when he received the ICWA Heavyweight Championship there . He gave this up on May 21, 2016 after around two years or 727 days of reign.
WWE (since 2017)
In June 2016 it was announced that Budgen had signed a contract with WWE , which he would take up from October of the same year. He made his debut on 11 November 2016 during a house show of NXT when he Lince Dorado could defeat. At the beginning of 2017 he was given the new ring name Aleister Black . A few days later he made his TV show debut when he surprisingly appeared at the WWE United Kingdom Championship Tournament , but had to lose a singles match against Neville , which took place outside the actual tournament. He played this match under his old name, Tommy End.
On April 1, 2017 , he won a match against Andrade Almas on NXT TakeOver: Orlando . On May 8, 2017, he made his Main Event debut in the main grinder , defeating Curt Hawkins . However, it stayed with this one-off appearance for the time being. In NXT TakeOver: Brooklyn III he was able to win another big match against Hideo Itami , as well as in NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia on January 27, 2018 against Adam Cole . Finally, he received the NXT Championship from Almas on NXT TakeOver: New Orleans on April 7, 2018 . He lost the title again on July 18, 2018 during the tapings for the NXT TV show to Tommasso Ciampa after Johnny Gargano intervened in the fight. He had to be canceled due to an injury from a triple threat match between Black, Ciampa and Gargano announced below. In the storyline, Black's time-out was explained by a devious attack that he fell victim to in the outdoor area of Full Sail University , where the NXT shows mostly take place. The search for the perpetrator was thematized in the general NXT storyline in the form of a criminal "search for clues" with numerous interviews with wrestlers present. Eventually, Johnny Gargano turned out to be the culprit. Black was able to defeat this at NXT TakeOver: Wargames 2018 . On January 26, 2019, Black had a rematch for the NXT Championship at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix , but was defeated by the reigning champion Tommasso Ciampa.
On January 27, 2019, Black took part in the men's Royal Rumble match and was able to throw Dean Ambrose out of the ring and the match. However, Black was eliminated by Baron Corbin even after a few minutes . This was his second appearance on the WWE main roster , and made his official debut on February 18, 2019 on Raw . In his first match that evening, he defeated Elias . The following day he also appeared on SmackDown Live , defeating Andrade there . In the following weeks Black formed a tag team with Ricochet and both played numerous matches on Raw, SmackDown Live and NXT as well as their pay-per-views . Black also took part in the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament on NXT with Ricochet . In the March 27, 2019 edition of NXT, Black and Ricochet won the tournament by defeating the Forgotten Sons (Steve Cutler and Wesley Blake) in the final.
As part of the 2019 Superstar Shake-Up, Black switched from NXT to SmackDown on April 15, 2019 . On July 14th, he played a singles match against Cesaro at Extreme Rules , which he won. As part of the WWE Draft, Black moved from SmackDown to Raw on October 14, 2019 .
Others
Budgen also trained martial arts and kickboxing and incorporates this into his wrestling style. His technical repertoire includes a variety of different kicks .
In a podcast of Colt Cabana in June 2015 declared Budgen that his occult embossed gimmick on the membership of his father to a religious cult was based in his childhood.
At the end of November 2018, Budgen married his colleague Thea Trinidad, who appears in the WWE under the name Zelina Vega .
