WWE Extreme Rules is one of the major events of the wrestling market leader WWE .

Together with Wrestlemania , Royal Rumble and SummerSlam , Extreme Rules is an event where wrestlers from both WWE roster ( Raw and SmackDown ) compete against each other.

history

The name of the event is based on the conditions under which the former wrestling promotion ECW played their matches and mainly shows hardcore matches such as Falls Count Anywhere , First-Blood or Last Man Standing . The former PPV One Night Stand , which took place four times between 2005 and 2008, finally merged into the new Extreme Rules event in 2009 . Between 2010 and 2016, the PPV took place annually in late April or early May, taking the place of WWE Backlash as the first major event after Wrestlemania . After an event in June 2017, in which only raw athletes took part, the event got a permanent place again from 2018 and has always taken place in July since then.
