Macey Estrella-Kadlec (born Macey Evans on March 24, 1990 in Georgia , United States of America ) is an American female wrestler who is currently under the ring name Lacey Evans under contract with World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) and on their weekly show SmackDown occurs.

Private life

Macey Estrella-Kadlec was born in Georgia as one of eight children. Her mother left the family when Macey was ten years old, and her father had to raise her and her siblings alone. In search of work, the family moved across the southern states, so that the family lived for a short time in Alabama , Louisiana and Texas , among others . Since her father was also addicted to drugs and alcohol, Estrella-Kadlec and her siblings did not have an easy childhood. Her father finally died two months before Estrella-Kadlec started her wrestling career at WWE from an overdose.

After working as a nursing assistant after graduating from high school and then successfully completing her bachelor's degree in health management, Estrella-Kadlec began a career in the American Navy in 2009 at the age of 19 . In the course of her military career, she developed into the best marksman in her unit, was the best in class in every military school she attended and finally switched to the elite unit Special Reaction Team (comparable to the German SEK ) as a military police officer . There she acted as Assistant Breacher (door opener) and ended her military career after five years of service with the rank of sergeant .

She married her childhood friend Alfonso Estrella, with whom she has been together since she was 15 and with whom she had their daughter Summer in 2013. To get her family and job under one roof, she was looking for a school in which her daughter's timetables were compatible with her training times, and on weekends her daughter accompanied her to shows or major events. In addition to professional wrestling, she runs her own construction company with her husband, which she founded at the age of 22, while she was still in the military, and in which several of her siblings are employed.

Wrestling career

Beginning and first successes

Estrella-Kadlec began wrestling training as early as high school and was able to fight her way up to national champion. Her first fight in professional wrestling was rather accidental. During her military service, Estrella-Kadlec was invited to one of his shows by her staff sergeant, who is himself an active wrestler. She was so enthusiastic about it that she was allowed to complete the main fight against her staff sergeant at the next show. Although she lost this unequal fight, her interest in professional wrestling was aroused and so she started her career in 2014 under the name Ruby Mobs in the independent wrestling league "American Premier Wrestling" (APW) in Statesboro / Georgia. Her greatest achievement was winning the World Heavy Weight Championship.

WWE

NXT (2016-2019)

In August 2015, Estrella-Kadlec announced on her Facebook account that she would take part in the next selection training for the WWE show “ NXT ” in September . She passes the selection process after a successful performance followed by a standing ovation and starts her training in April 2016 at the WWE Performance Center.

She played her first official match under the ring name Macey Estrella on October 20, 2016 in a non-televised episode of NXT in a Battle Royal against Aliyah, Bianca Belair , Billie Kay , Danielle Kamela, Daria , Liv Morgan , Peyton Royce and the eventual winner Ember Moon .

On January 5, 2017, Estrella-Kadlec made her first television appearance on NXT alongside Sarah Bridges in her loss to Billie Kay and Payton Royce. As usual with NXT, more fights followed mainly in the "house shows" not shown on TV. Since April 2017 she has been active exclusively as a lone fighter under the ring name Lacey Evans, apart from a few tag team matches with changing partners. In July 2017 it was part of the first edition of the Mae Young Classic tournament. She defeated Taynara Conti in the first round, but suffered a loss to Toni Storm in the second round. Her role as "Heel" began in an NXT issue on January 17, 2018 as Estrella-Kadlec in the course of a storyline the general manager of NXT, William Regal , publicly for his selection of female superstars (including Nikki Cross, Ember Moon and Kairi Sane ) criticized. This statement leads to her first feud against Kairi Sane, which lasts for several weeks and finally ends in June with a loss to Sane. After that, Estrella-Kadlec started a winning streak and got the chance to win a fatal four-way match against Mia Yim, Io Shirai and the eventual winner Bianca Belair in December as 1st challenger for the NXT Women's title .

Main roster debut on RAW (2019)

In the RAW issue of December 18, 2018 it was announced that in the coming weeks the superstars Lars Sullivan, the tag team Heavy Machinery, Nikki Cross, EC3 and also Estrella-Kadlec will debut at RAW and Smackdown in the main roster. Estrella-Kadlec made her debut in the main squad at the Royal Rumble on January 27, 2019 when she and Natalya started the 30 Women's Royal Rumble Match. She was able to eliminate the IIconics (Billie Kay and Payton Royce), but was knocked out of the match after 29 minutes by Charlotte Flair .

After that she appeared regularly in RAW and Smackdown, where she, accompanied by her entrance music, waved and smiling down the entrance ramp and after a short break left the hall without actively standing in the ring.

In the first RAW issue to Wrestlemania on April 8, 2019, after the appearance of the new RAW and Smackdown title holder Becky Lynch on the entrance ramp, the two women met, in which Becky Lynch was attacked by Estrella-Kadlec for no apparent reason. In the Smackdown issue the next day, Estrella-Kadlec also beats Becky Lynch down after her appearance. At the Superstar Shake-up in the RAW issue on April 15, 2019, Estrella-Kadlec officially became the future RAW Superstar and in this context made her claims to the RAW Women's Championship clear by playing Natalya in a match in which the next Challenger determined to the title was defeated. Up until the match between the women at the big Money in the Bank event, Estrella-Kadlec made further verbal attacks on Becky Lynch in which she argued that the women's division of WWE deserves to be led by a real lady and not by a woman who calls herself "The Man".

At Money in the Bank, Estrella-Kadlec suffered a defeat against Becky Lynch, but a short time later she helped Charlotte Flair to win the Smackdown Women's Championship by punching Lynch in the face with her fist when the referee was distracted. As a result, Estrella-Kadlec repeatedly attacked Becky Lynch verbally and demanded another match at the major WWE Stomping Grounds event, which she also lost. At this event Estrella-Kadlec was also used by Baron Corbin as a guest referee in his match against the Universal Champion Seth Rollins . Since Estrella-Kadlec deliberately wanted this match to be decided in favor of Baron Corbin, Becky Lynch (Seth Rollins' girlfriend in real life) finally interfered and made sure that Lacey Evans was no longer able to lead the fight. Lynch's intervention ensured that a mixed tag team match was scheduled for the upcoming Extreme Rules event on July 14, 2019, in which Estrella-Kadlec will compete alongside Baron Corbin against Rollins and Lynch and in which both Rollins as well as Lynch have to risk their titles. However, they lost this match.

Switch to SmackDown (since 2019)

As part of the WWE Draft, Evans moved from Raw to SmackDown on October 11, 2019 . On October 31, 2019, she lost a match to Natalya at WWE Crown Jewel in Riyadh , Saudi Arabia . On November 24, 2019, she played a Traditional Survivor Series Elimination Match against Natalya, Asuka , Charlotte Flair , Kairi Sane, Sarah Logan, Rhea Ripley, Io Shirai, Bianca at the WWE Survivor Series together with Carmella , Dana Brooke, Sasha Banks and Nikki Cross Belair , Toni Storm and Candice LeRae. She lost that match.
