Bianca Crawford (actually Blair ; born April 9, 1989 in Knoxville , Tennessee ) is an American wrestler . She is under contract with WWE , where she appears in her development area NXT under the ring name Bianca Belair .

Life

Blair was a track and field athlete who took part in the hurdles. She had what the ESPN -author Sean Hurd (as "a volatile six-year track career" an unstable six-year track career ) called when she three universities attended. She first attended the University of South Carolina and then Texas A&M University . She later didn't complete a year before completing her collage career at the University of Tennessee , where she became an All-SEC and All-American. She was inducted onto the SEC's academic list of honor in 2011 and 2012. She was also a CrossFit competitor and powerlifter after appearing in RX Magazine , Femme Rouge Magazine, and CrossFit.com . Blair had to give up her CrossFit career due to intercostal chondritis (also known as Shing Rib syndrome). In June 2017, Blair met wrestler Montez Ford , who also worked for NXT . The couple married on June 23, 2018.

Wrestling career

Blair put her information in the WWE prospectus data shortly after her CrossFit career ended prematurely, "more on a whim than with an actual plan ," according to Hurd. Less than two weeks later, she received a social media message from WWE wrestler Mark Henry , who met Blair's profile on the Crossfit circuit. He said she could try, but stressed that she had to do the work. After two official tryouts, Blair signed a contract with WWE on April 12, 2016 and was assigned to the WWE Performance Center . Blair made her first appearance during an in-ring segment at an NXT Live event on June 25th and made her in-ring debut in September defeating Aliyah .

On May 3, 2017, an episode of NXT, Blair made her television debut as part of a Battle Royal to determine the # 1 contender for the NXT Women's Championship in which she was eliminated by Billie Kay and Peyton Royce . In June, Belair defeated Aliyah to qualify for the Mae Young Classic tournament, where she defeated Sage Beckett , but was eliminated in the second round by eventual tournament winner Kairi Sane . At 8. April 2018 Belair gave her WrestleMainia debut when she along with other women from the NXT roster at WrestleMania Women's Battle Royal at WrestleMania 34 took part. Shortly after her appearance in the Mae Young Classic, Belair began facing a number of competitors including Lacey Evans , Candice LeRae , Aliyah, Dakota Kai, and Deonna Purrazzo . Belair also began a brief feud with Nikki Cross , which resulted in a match between the two, which resulted in a double countout. A rematch took place a month later, which ended in a no contest (tie) after Aleister Black interrupted him.

She made her debut on the main roster on Raw on April 6, 2020 .
