Emanuel Alejandro Rodriguez (born November 14, 1986 in Chicago , Illinois , USA ) is an American wrestler of Mexican descent. He is currently under contract with World Wrestling Entertainment , where he appears under the ring name Kalisto . It follows the Lucha Libre style and is considered one of the best high flyers in the world.

His greatest achievement so far is winning the WWE United States Championship twice .

Wrestling career

Independent Leagues (2006-2013)

Early in his career, he made a name for himself in several independent leagues in Chicago and the American Midwest. On March 10, 2007 he made his wrestling debut against Phil Atlas under the ring name Samuray del Sol , which he lost.

In 2010 he played a few matches for International Wrestling Cartel and East Coast Lucha Libre. On September 25, 2010, he played in All American Wrestling a triple threat match against Silas Young and Gran Akuma for the AAW Heavyweight Championship , which the former won . In 2010 he also performed in Mexico . In April 2011 he suffered a concussion in a match for Desastre Total Ultraviolento and almost had to end his career as a result.

In 2012, in addition to AAA, he also entered the ring for Dragon Gate USA (DGUSA). He made his DGUSA debut on March 29th, beating Masato Yoshino. In the USA he appeared again under the ring name Samuray del Sol . On April 23, 2012 he made his PhD debut for Evolve. There he played a triple threat match against Chuck Taylor and Johnny Gargano, which Taylor won. In April 2013 he took part in a tournament for the Evolve title. Rodriguez was eliminated in the quarterfinals in a fatal four-way match against Sami Callihan, Jigsaw and Rich Swann . NXT and NXT Tag Team Champion (2013-2015)

On May 26, 2013, Emanuel Rodriguez signed a contract with the WWE . On September 20, 2013 he made his debut for the WWE under his new ring name Kalisto . On the same day at an NXT house show, he made his ring debut against Baron Corbin , which he won . From July 17, 2014 he formed the tag team The Lucha Dragons with Sin Cara .
