Jayson Anthony Paul (born December 10, 1984 in Brooklyn , New York City , New York ), better known by his ring name JTG , is an American wrestler who was under contract with the WWE , among others .

Career

World Wrestling Entertainment (2006-2007)

Paul began his career in 2006 in the WWE Development League Ohio Valley Wrestling under the ring name "The Neighborhoodie". There he was put in a tag team called "The Gang Stars" with Shad Gaspard . They managed to win the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship.

In 2006 the tag team was promoted from OVW to WWE Raw and renamed "Cryme Tyme". Paul changed the ring name from "The Neighborhoodie" to "JTG". On October 16, 2006, Cryme Tyme debuted, defeating WWE World Tag Team Champions The Spirit Squad (Mike Mondo & Johnny Jeter) in a non-title bout. In November 2006, Cryme Tyme defeated Lance Cade , Trevor Murdoch , Charlie Haas , Viscera , and The Highlanders in a Texas Tornado match at Survivor Series . As part of their gimmick , they regularly stole items from other wrestlers and on-air people and sold them to fans. They also sold incorrect start numbers to other participants in the Royal Rumble . A few months later, Cryme Tyme won a Tag Team Turmoil match against The Highlanders, The World's Greatest Tag Team, Cade, Murdoch, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan and Super Crazy in New Year's Revolution pay-per-view , making them one another Deserved title fight for the World Tag Team Championship.

On June 29, 2007, Cryme lost Tyme to Deuce 'n Domino at WWE SmackDown . While they were celebrating their victory, Cryme Tyme stole the car from Deuce 'n Domino and sold it within the storyline . On July 21, 2007, Cryme Tyme defeated the James Boys to win the OVW Southern Tag Team Championship for the second time. On August 20, 2007, Cryme stole Tyme Murdoch's hat and sold it to a fan. The following week, they stole Cade's hat and gave it to a fan. On September 2, 2007, both Paul and Gaspard were killed in the middle of the feud WWE fired.

Independent area (2007-2008)

Paul appeared with Gaspard on Jersey All Pro Wrestling's 10th Anniversary Show on October 27, 2007. Under the name "Crime Time" they defeated the "Dirty Rotten Scoundrelz". Paul also appeared at Derby City Wrestling, where he was involved in a feud with "The Mobile Homers" in the DCW.

Return to the WWE

Team and feud with Shad Gaspard

Cryme Tyme returned on WWE Raw on March 31, 2008, beating Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch in their first televised match in nearly 6 months.

Cryme Tyme joined John Cena in a match with JBL on June 30th on Raw . The following week, they vandalized JBL's limousine. Cryme Tyme then began a feud with World Tag Team Champions Ted DiBiase and Cody Rhodes in which they stole their title belt for a while. At WWE Unforgiven 2008 they lost a title match against DiBiase and Rhodes. JTG got a spot in the Royal Rumble after he cheated Shad Gaspard of his spot. JTG stayed in the ring for almost twelve minutes before being eliminated by Undertaker . On January 26th, Cryme Tyme lost a match for the World Tag Team Championship against John Morrison and The Miz on Raw .

On April 15, Cryme Tyme was drafted from Raw to SmackDown in the 2009 WWE Supplemental Draft . There they earned a Unified Tag Team Championship match against Jeri-Show ( Chris Jericho & Big Show ) at SummerSlam after defeating The Hart Dynasty ( Tyson Kidd & David Hart Smith (with Natalya )) on SmackDown. On August 6th, JTG surprisingly defeated Chris Jericho on SmackDown. At SummerSlam, however, they lost to Jeri-Show. At WrestleMania XXVI , Cryme Tyme entered a dark match - Battle Royal , which neither of them could win.

On April 2, 2010, Cryme lost Tyme in a short match against John Morrison and R-Truth . After the match, Shad Gaspard attacked JTG, which disbanded the team. The feud culminated in a strap match at WWE Extreme Rules , which JTG won. After JTG won against Caylen Croft, Shad tried to attack him, but it was unsuccessful. Shad won the rematch on May 6 at WWE Superstars . Shad's last appearance with the WWE was the SmackDown edition on May 14, 2010. He was then sent to Florida Championship Wrestling , where he competed in a few matches. Shad was fired from the WWE in November 2010.

Undercard level (2010-2014)

Paul was announced as the Pro of Jacob Novak on WWE NXT Redemption . On May 3, 2011, his feud with William Regal began . Two weeks later, Novak was the first rookie to be eliminated. On April 26, 2011, Paul was drafted to raw brand in the WWE Supplemental Draft .

On May 24, 2011, Paul had a feud with Vladimir Kozlov's rookie , Conor O'Brian, after O'Brian pinfall Paul and Paul subsequently attacked him until Kozlov saved O'Brian. On May 26, he lost to Curt Hawkins at WWE Superstars . On June 7th, Paul attacked Yoshi Tatsu on NXT Redemption, cementing his heel status. Matt Striker came out and announced a match between JTG and Yoshi Tatsu, which JTG lost. On July 9th and August 2nd, Paul had a feud with Kozlov after he defeated him twice. The feud ended when Kozlov was released from the WWE on August 5, 2011. On August 5, he won another match after a few months, where he defeated the Usos and Trent Barreta together with David Otunga and Michael McGillicutty . In November 2011, JTG got a friend and manager, Tamina, which led to a feud with the Usos, as Tamina had previously managed them. Paul constantly lost the matches against the Usos.

On May 9, 2012, Paul defeated Yoshi Tatsu on NXT Redemption for his first and only win in 2012. For the remainder of 2012 and 2013 he returned to the losing streak, in which he lost almost all matches in the undercard . On June 12, Paul was released from the WWE.

Private life

Paul graduated from John Dewey High School in Brooklyn, New York. In October 2012, he announced via Twitter that he has a daughter named Madison.
