William Theodore Mueller (born September 10, 1980 in Coffeyville , Kansas , USA ) is an American wrestler who was employed by World Wrestling Entertainment for a long time under his ring name Trevor Murdoch . His greatest success there was receiving the World Tag Team Championship three times .

Career

Beginnings

Mueller began wrestling in 1997 and trained in the Missouri- based Central States Wrestling Alliance , World League Wrestling and finally under wrestling legend Harley Race in its training academy. He gained his first experience, also as a tag team wrestler, in the WWE development league Ohio Valley Wrestling and at TNA . In the OVW he also met his later tag team partner Lance Cade and already formed a team with him there.

From April to November 2009 he briefly appeared under the name "The Outlaw" Jethro Holliday for TNA Wrestling.

WWE

In 2005 he finally signed a permanent contract with World Wrestling Entertainment. On August 22nd of that year he was introduced together with Lance Cade as a new tag team with Southern Gimmick . He himself used the name Trevor Murdoch since then , the surname being a homage to the southern wrestling legend Dick Murdoch . The two won their debut match against the then reigning Tag Team Champions and therefore received a title match. On September 18, 2005 they won the World Tag Team Champion title and held it until November 1, when Kane and Big Show became new champions.

The team was split up and Mueller often competed in Heat , the WWE's side show against jobbers . But he was also feuded against Goldust and his tag team partner Snitsky and so the team with Cade was reformed in 2006.

It involved the two are now on Edge's side in the feud with D-Generation X .

In 2007 another title feud followed, this time against the Hardy Boyz . On June 4th of that year they were finally able to win the Tag Team title for the second time and keep it until September 5th, when they had to give it up at short notice at a house show in order to regain it on September 8th. On December 10th they finally lost the title to Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes on the "15th Anniversary of RAW" anniversary show. In the following period, the team was separated and on June 25, 2008 Mueller finally switched to the Friday show Smackdown , while Cade stayed with RAW. However, on July 3, 2008, he was released from the WWE. Since then, he has appeared under various names in independent leagues, with Lance Cade as a tag team again until his death.
