Lance K. McNaught (born March 2, 1981 in Omaha , Nebraska , † August 13, 2010 ), better known by his ring name Lance Cade , was an American wrestler . He was most recently at WWE and was a three-time World Tag Team Champion .

Career

Beginnings

Lance Cade learned the basics of wrestling at Shawn Michaels' Wrestling School in San Antonio in 1999. He then went to Frontier Martial-Arts Wrestling in Japan , where he gained his first tag team experience with Bryan Danielson before joining the organization left again in February 2000. In 2001 he concluded a so-called "development contract" with the WWE and spent the next time in their training leagues. In one of these leagues, Ohio Valley Wrestling , he should already form a team with his future tag team partner Trevor Rhodes .

WWE

In June 2003, Cade made his debut on the WWE main show RAW as the single wrestler Garrison Cade . A short time later, Mark Jindrak was assigned to him as a tag team partner and let the two compete against established names for the World Tag Team Champion title . They were denied winning the title. After Jindrak was transferred to the Smackdown Show , the team was disbanded. After minor matches, Cade injured his leg in July 2004 and had to take a break.

After he had worked on his missing form after the injury in the training league OVW in early 2005 , he was presented on August 22nd of that year together with Trevor Rhodes as a new tag team with Southern States Gimmick . The two won their debut match against the then reigning Tag Team Champions and therefore received a title match. On September 18, 2005 they won the World Tag Team Champion title and held it until November 1, when Kane and Big Show became new champions.

The team was then split and Cade often competed in Heat , the WWE's side show , against Jobber and in a few matches on RAW . The team was reformed in 2006 following a feud between his former partner and Gene Snitsky and Goldust .

In this context, the two have now, this time on Edge's side in the feud with D-Generation X involved.

In 2007 another title feud followed, this time against the Hardy Boyz . On June 4th of that year they were finally able to win the Tag Team title for the second time and keep it until September 5th, when they had to give it up at short notice at a house show in order to regain it on September 8th. On December 10, they finally lost the title to Hardcore Holly and Cody Rhodes on the "15th Anniversary of RAW" anniversary show. In the period that followed, the team was separated with Murdoch and Cade was prepared for an individual career. Then he was tested by the WWE on the side of Chris Jerichos for his suitability for single main fights. On October 14, 2008, he was released from the WWE. The reason was a seizure caused by an overdose of painkillers , as well as various behavioral lapses. Since then he has appeared in smaller leagues - partly together with Murdock.

He died of heart failure on August 13, 2010 at the age of 29. Cade left a wife and two daughters. A few days earlier he had been treated in a hospital for breathing problems, but had discharged himself.
