Coffeyville is a city of about 10,000 people in Montgomery County in the southeastern US state of Kansas .

Coffeyville was founded in 1869 as a trading post by Colonel James A. Coffey and covers 18.3 km² without any significant water surface.
The city is famous because the Dalton brothers tried to rob two banks there on October 5, 1892 . The plan failed and the Daltons were killed - except for Emmett. The brothers Grat and Bob Dalton and Bill Power , a member of their gang, were buried in the town cemetery; their graves can still be visited today. On the occasion of the thwarted bank robbery by the Daltons and their supporters, a parade takes place every year on October 5th, during which the citizens of the city re-enact the scenario of that day. Today there is a "Dalton Defender" museum in Coffeyville, where you can visit the highlights of the city's history. Another attraction is Brown Mansion - the former villa of the Brown family.
