Plies
Plies (born July 1, 1976 in Fort Myers , Florida ; real name Algernod Lanier Washington ) is an American gangsta rapper .
biography
Washington grew up in East Dunbar, Florida and began rapping on his brother's Big Gates label in the late 1990s. In 2003 he was signed to Slip-n-Side Records and released several mixtapes.
He also wrote the rap track I Wanna Love You , also known as I Wanna Fuck You , which reached # 1 on the Hot 100 charts in 2006 and # 3 on the UK charts, and originally recorded it with Akon, but he became replaced by Snoop Dogg for marketing reasons . Plies was arrested in 2006 for illegal gun possession after a group around Washington was shot into viewers in a row over the microphone at a rap concert. Two of his companions were charged with attempted manslaughter.
The Real Testament
Plies' Akon- produced album The Real Testament reached number 2 in the US sales charts in the week after its release in August 2007, the single Hypnotized (feat.Akon) reached number 14, and the single Shawty number 9 on the Billboard Hot 100 . The album was awarded gold by the RIAA .
Definition of real
The second album Definition of Real was released in June 2008. It peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200 and, like the previous album, went gold. The single Bust It Baby (Part 2) made it into the top 10 of the US singles charts. The album has guest appearances by Ne-Yo and Trey Songz, among others .
Because REAList
Da Realist was released in December 2008 and made it to number 14 on the Billboard 200 in its first week. So far, the two singles Put It on Ya and Want It, Need It have been released with guest appearances by Chris J and Ashanti . In commercial terms, the success was well behind the first two Plies albums.
Goon Affiliated
The fourth studio album, Goon Affiliated , was first announced in June 2009 and has been postponed for a year. It entered the top 5 of the album charts in June 2010, but only stayed there for two months and, like its predecessor, missed gold status. The two single releases Becky and She Got It Made just missed the Hot 100.
