Sheck Wes (born September 10, 1998 in New York ; actually Khadimou Rassoul Cheikh case ) is an American rapper and singer. In 2017 he became known through his song Mo Bamba and later internationally through the label project Jackboys .
biography
Sheck Wes grew up in Milwaukee and New York . He was successful in music and basketball as a teenager, but when a fashion agent approached him at the age of 16 he stayed away from an important game to attend a fashion show at Madison Square Garden . His parents sent him to their native Senegal , where he lived for five months. After his return he decided to focus on music.
In 2018 he signed a double record deal with the labels GOOD by Kanye West and Cactus Jack by Travis Scott . He was unofficially involved in his number one album Astroworld , which was released in August of that year. Shortly afterwards he had his own breakthrough with the trap song Mo Bamba , named after his friend, NBA basketball player Mohamed Bamba . Sheck Wes came up to number 6 in the US single charts and reached five-times platinum due to the song hits . The piece was also able to place itself in some countries internationally. This was followed in October by the debut album Mudboy , which made it to number 17 and gold in the USA, even if it met with less international interest.
After that, little was heard from him until 2020 when the joint album Jackboys by members of Travis Scott's label Cactus Jack was released. With his contribution Gang Gang , he managed a second chart hit, which got gold in the USA and also returned to the charts in some European countries.
